Jake
Just fill it up dude, and let it flush through! I wouldn't do that. I'd drain the tank Ben. Either from the fuel filter connection or by taking the cover off the tank and lifting out the pump hanger and then syphoning the fuel out. Homer
Well, thats 3 of us that have done that at BP now As Jake says, you really need to fush it out, then fill the tank completely on the next refil (it'll help dilute any deisel thats left). Why not? its not like its a bloody high tech diesel engine is it? It'll be fine, just have to put up with it for a bit, not driving it hard. If he's drained the tank allready then there's no problem
Jake
Well besides the possible damage it could cause, 'cos it'll smoke like the ace of spades.

If he's drained the tank allready then there's no problem Id agree but he MUST fill it right up and drive it gently, i.e off boost
ben.supra
well mechanic siad my oxygen sensers and plugs could be coated up and he said i could damage pistons????yeah right..i didnt really run car much on diesel tank sounds really empty now so i,m 50/50 on this now mechanic or just fill tank up and hope for the best it's non turbo supra
Jake
Why wouldn't you just drain the tank though? It's a simple enough job and avoids the possible risk and the having to drive Miss Daisy for next 300 miles.
Homer
I can tell you for sure that the deisel fumes will kill any O2 sensor in no time, after about 20 minutes of idle it killed both the stock O2 and wideband sensors on my car. JustGav
This would be my take on it... While the car would run initially would the diesel act well like diesel and detonation under cylinder pressures, and start blowing holes in things eventually if there is enough of it in the system? Also being thicker would it stand a good chance of blocking the injectors?
Whitesupraboy2
Ahh NA, Well I once put only £5 of diesel in my NA when empty (I also got caught out) but then I stayed at the petrol station and whacked in £50 of petrol straight on top. Which would of mixed it well before entering the engine. May get lucky on the 02 Sensors.
