boombastictiger
Hi I have noticed recently that my car does not pull the way it used to....I have looked after it always kept it oiled etc...however I feel as if its just not producing the same "kick" of acceleration that it used to a few months ago.... Any ideas what could be causing this? I AM still in need to change the spark plugs which have not been changed for 10000 miles...Im hoping that this is what is causing it because im getting it changed soon.... If not what else could be causing this lose of power...i read somewhere that the fuel filter could be decreases pressure in the system....is this true? Jake
It's not your fuel filter. You've probably just got used to the power so it doesn't feel so fast anymore.

boombastictiger
its definatly reduced in low down acceleration...i guess me getting used to the power is part of it, but the spark plugs have not been changed in over a year...could this contribute to this if they are i nbad condition... How much of a difference would changing poor spark plugs to new ones have as appose to the feel and acceleration of the car...would it be a big difference or a minor one? Jake
Depends how bad they are. Do you know waht plugs are in there at the moment? Iridiums will usually last a lot longer than 10k, coppers OTOH need changing frequently - I swap mine every 5000 miles.
boombastictiger
this is the problem, i got them fitted as part of the service when i first bought the car...i gave it to an indepentant garage, who said that they used toyota oem parts for the job...im going to have them changed anyway, i will get the iridiums as they are highly recommended by everyone it seems.. Jake
I think the OEM plugs were Iridium too, weren't they? Mind you, you can't trust some garages to have actually fitted what they charged you for. Why don't you just bung a £10 set of coppers in there and see if it helps? Gaz Walker
I think the OEM plugs were Iridium too, weren't they? Platinum I'm fairly sure Jake... Still has the same/similar lifespan as Iridiums. Gaz.
Sharpie
Platinum I'm fairly sure Jake... Still has the same/similar lifespan as Iridiums. Gaz. Yeah, Platinums. What about warmer air temps now that the rain has gone ?
