JamesG
Just had a bird strike at 50mph on the windscreen of my new Elise. A bit lower and I'm pretty sure it would have cracked the clamshell. Windscreen was undamaged apart from a nasty smear Any idea what speed would be required to crack the windscreen?
Charlotte
I thought this was going to be about your girlfriend not cooking or something.
JustGav
And here I was expecting to here some agony aunt story about a blokes missus not putting out *grin*... You must have got lucky to be honest, must have glanced the bird at the right angle.. count yourself lucky, decent sized pidgeon can make a real mess.. Kranz
Judging by the mess one made of a Tornado canopy last year at an air show I was working at..... I'd say somewhere in the region of 400+ mph

Animal
It would depend on the mass of the bird in question, the area of the windscreen and possibly the speed of the bird. My dad had a car come in work that had hit a pheasant head on at 60mph; the bugger punched a hole in the glass, got skinned and subsequently exploded inside the car. Not good. There was just a lumpy mess on the parcel shelf and the ENTIRE interior needed to be replace as it was just caked in pheasant viscera... JamesG
That's gross! I think I was lucky Just one of those unavoidable things though. I've hit a pigeon and a couple of cats before (and I love cats so that's not very nice ) The birds today just flew out of a hedge and one didn't quite make it out high enough. Mind you, if one damaged my car and survived I'll probably kick it to death
Cable
Judging by the mess one made of a Tornado canopy last year at an air show I was working at..... I'd say somewhere in the region of 400+ mph that might do it lol

On the train, in 1st class. I'm now trying to look inconspicuous...
