umm, have turbofit messed up!?

A turbo engine will make different levels of boost without proper wastegate control depending on the load on the engine, i.e. the gear that you are in. A restrictor ring isn't really proper wastegate control. Also, the boost levels produced vary from car to car in general and also with atmospheric changes, so a 1.2bar restrictor ring isn't an exact science. If you spotted it was running more than 1.2bar in the higher gears then perhaps a narrower restriction would have been in order.

As for the lack of boost now, I personally wouldn't put it down to:

1) Having or not having hybrids - hybrids will overboost just as much as stockers, unless the wastegate port is widened. Even then it probably wouldn't hold to 1.0bar.

2) Mapping - To limit boost via the mapping you'd basically have to have it misfiring due to massive overfuelling.

I'd say a further restriction in the exhaust or a boost leak.

Checking for hybrids is a bugger of a job as you'd need to check the exhaust wheels for if they were metal or ceramic and that's pretty much a full stripdown. You can, though, expose the intake side (not nearly such a big job) and manually spin the wheel. J-specs spin more easily and coast to a stop more slowly. But you need to know what you are feeling for and/or have a set of j-specs to hand to compare with.

As for the "running in an engine on a base map" I think 550s, off boost, with a reasonable base map should be OK. Closed loop will sort pretty much everything out if it isn't a complete disaster of a base.

I'd say take your restrictor ring out and see what boost you hit then. But then again I wouldn't recommend that until it's at least mapped for 1.0bar and extrapolated upwards.

I would have to agree with the above. Check the restrictor ring fitted, its a 5 min job so worth it. IF it does have 1 fitted then take it out completely, take her for a run in 4/5th gear and watch the boost rise...if it goes over the 1.0bar that your hitting now then there is your problem. IF not, check all pipes for leaks.
