Soonto_HAS_soop
Anyone had one of these? What's the crack with them? Been offered one in part exchange for mine and TBH I have always liked the look of them, but not sure on the history and life of them. The one on offer is a 2000 X Plate with 55K, just had a £5k rebuild (which is worrying), full Subaru service history, 2 previous owners, 330mm AP front brakes (factory upgrade) and a custom made exhaust. Anyone care to comment?

Anyone care to comment? THE impreza to have imo (assuming you can't stretch to a 22B). Looks the nuts and goes pretty quick too. The three door classic shape is easily the best looking too. Steviekid
The one on offer is a 2000 X Plate with 55K, just had a £5k rebuild (which is worrying), What's the mileage on it? I think the P1 was the only UK impreza to have the old sti engine in it (like the type-R and type-RAs) that is apparantly prone to needing rebuilt at around 60k miles. jamesmark
Parkers quote a 0-60 time of 4.6 and 155mph top end. And it is 4wd. The P1 is deffo at the top of my list for replacements to my supra.
Tourniquet
I agrre, I was looking at a P1 before getting the Supra. It's the only one I'd have but I don't think they warrant the price. It was 18-20k when I was looking. The 22b is also nice in the grey colour but I'd say 3 door Subaru's are the one to have plus it's the quickest

Muffleman
Test drove one a few years ago and really liked it, nice car. Wasn't there some sort of frailty with the engine tho ? Quite a few rebuilds on warranty ???
mr lover
My dad has one of these, nice car I would have one. He has had it for 4 years never missed a beat
Homer
They're a lovely motor, provided you get a good one. A mate has one and its an absolute animal off the line. The brakes are superb too. They do not have the straight line or 60+mph performance of the skyline, Supra, Rx7, etc, but are rockets sub 60. My mate once quoted that a 'proper' scooby makes a bad driver look good and an average driver look like a Pro. If you can handle a big power RWD car then one of these is a doddle to get the most out of. I have always fancied an older P1, but not sure I could stomach the lack of power on the highways. You might be thinking of the type r sti. The WR1 is the quickest I believe, not the P1. I would put the 22b down as the quickest I have seen one of these do a hill climb running on 3 cylinders and still beating a load of other top spec cars... Well I never understood why someone many people out here had issues with the impreza (all kinds) and engine rebuilds... As my one in SA was hitting 100k kms and had had a hard life Then some idiot decided to drive it foot flat, 91 unleaded ron, 1.6 bar boost spike... tosser I mate at work had a P1, sold it, misses it a lot, awesome car, 2 door imprezas look awesome! chrisavila100
Very nice cars, but VERY different too! My best mate just bought one, 32k on the clock, remap, decat brakes ect, very quick car, dyno'd at 315 bhp, and about 1275kg! Great FUN cars, point to point its lots of fun:eyebrows: But when we both had a few runs against each other... (on a private test track!!) , and this was PRE bpu with a 13 year old Knackered smic,1 de cat and nur;) Well the out come, i was most pleased, i just about kept up with him.. we have only had a few rolling runs together from around 30mph to 120 mph and he pulled about a 3/4's car length on me! Nothing in it really, he seemed to make 1/2 metre at each gear change:( The P1 seems very punchy, and launches very well, but the supra is so much smoother and just feels like it has more grunt:search: Im sure when i get my car back(full bpu) i will pull around 2/3/4 car lengths on him.. i hope.. On the p1 forum they say the Maf sensors should be replaced VERY often around 2/3 years ish, and this is surposed to be why quite a few p1 engines go And to many high rev launches can be very costly on the diff's/ gearbox! To sum things up, if you want a full on, and LOTS of fun, point to point car, with a cheap looking dash, that asks you to cane it EVERY time you take her out, and does £60 in petrol every 200miles or less! then this car is for you.. But to be honest after being a passanger in it quite a few times i much prefer the supra! Its a LOT more refined, and just seems a much more relaxed enviroment, when doing a to b runs! But then when on power the supra just seems to pull that much more, and feels like a sports car and not a hatchback/rally car... But thats just my opinion! higgs
i had a sti 5 type r the base car 4 the p1 had it 2.5 years never missed a beat whish i still had it. it doesent matter how powerful a supra is on the average british roads it wouldent keep up with a fast scooby unless u had a f1 driver in the soupe
