Are the Police powerless or useless?

I didn't get this either:search:

Looks like there might be another angle to this story after all.

Instead of walking away, the good citizens went to help?

what is that story were there is a lion with a thorn stuck in it's paw then a man pull's out to thorn so the lion no longer feels the urge to kill him, maybe he addressed the situation the same way, he may of thought the little shit may of hurt himself so help the bastard and they might think to leave the couple, however i must admit that would not work, maybe in the 50's.

I mean look at the new's papers in the last few month's, how many reports of teenage stabbing and now youths with gun's and large youth gangs beating up people also there was a recent killing of a farther on his own door step, these are kids armed only with there fist, there out of control and proven to be deadly, people soon enough will want to bring back discipline, but by the look of thing's been so out of control it may be too late, i would imagine enforcing it back into the system is going to be tough, give a teacher a Kane these day's a kid would not think twice about turning round and attacking back.

people will take the law into there own hands yet pay for there defense... i mean here is a example i don't get, if your been burgled what is your instant reaction, phone the police and wait for 15 minuets? or in your defense oppose a attack because at the end of the day if some one is in your house what is there not to say they might try, attack, rape, kidnap or kill at worst, are you going to risk what they "might" do, i personally would grab a bat and swing as hard as i could, but do that and we are the one's that ends up behind bars!?!

Both comments a tad unfair I feel.

You've got to question why this is happening in the first place. I see a number of reasons

1) Society is now all about the individual, not communities. How many of you can name everyone in your street.... or even your neighbours surnames?

2) Schools are not allowed to discipline kids

3) Parents are working more, socialising more & some are more bothered about their own lives than their kids, so the kids do what they want. The parents expect the schools to discipline them.

4) Police are now very accountable for their actions. The old way would be to give little Johnny a clip around the ear for looking at a copper in the wrong way, then deag them home where the parents would give them a clip around the ear for beig brought home by police & disgracing them. Now you can't even speak to a kid harshly without the parents putting a complaint in & starting off an investigation against the officer... which lasts months & requires the officer is investigated & interviewed under caution!!! Guilty until proved innocent.

5) The judicial system does nothing to kids. There is very little punishment for anything other than GBH and murder.

6) As a consequence of all of the above the kids fear nothing as they know there is no real punishment. They start off being naughty in class, get away with it so move on up the ladder to being abusive to teachers in school.... there's no punishment so they beat other kids up.... still no punishment so they hang around in their gangs and beat anyone that comes along, smoke cannabis, drink vodka, damage cars, break into houses, set fire to things... etc

Society needs to harden up on these kids, their parents & on politicians who are dumbing down the legal system. Zero tolerance is the only way of getting control back from the little darlings..... That and national service, and I'll be first to drill some discipline into them.

Who's with me? ;)

Me. Well said.

Convicted criminals are now to be excused wearing high visibility vests when doing community service, as the general public may recognise them as convicts and hurl abuse at them which undermines the poor darlings human rights... Daily Mail, this morning, God help us all....:(

QED the end:(

Has the world gone mad? I mean lets get serious!

I heard that most of the prisons are like summer camps these days.

Powerless or useless, what does it matter when they generate stories like this? The end result is the same... the public believes that they are only interested in easy prosecutions, or the really serious stuff on which they have to take action.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2007/09/10/police-too-busy-for-crack-addicts-89520-19761863/

A public-spirited busman thought he was doing his duty when he discovered two junkies on board were smoking crack - and drove straight to a police station. But passengers who raced in to alert police were stunned when officers claimed they were too busy - and suggested they dial 999 and get someone else. Driver Paul Gibbs, 48, waited 10 minutes and then reluctantly drove off when he realised no one was coming.

Disbelieving Paul said: "We were at one of Europe's biggest police stations but no one could be bothered to come out and solve a crime right on their doorstep. "There must have been hundreds of officers inside but they couldn't find one to nip up to the top deck of my bus. It's no surprise people think they can get away with anything."
