Bradford garage - any decent ones that look after Supras?

I'm trying to buy a 2jz-gte car in Bradford.

Sadly the seller is a tosser, and refuses an RAC check because they 'take up too much time'.

Is there a Supra specialist in Bradford I could tell him to take the car to?

to be fair I wouldn't let an RAC man or an AA man look at my supra for someone.

Why not check it over yourself? or see if we have a member in the area?

Are they a Supra specialist in Bradford then?

No mate. Just an import place.

When I went down to pick up my car they had another couple of supra's in and they were stunning. Infact all of the cars he had in the showroom were spot on.

He even did the belts for me before I collected.

It's actually an Aristo V300 with 2JZ-GTE engine I'm buying from http://www.japperformanceuk.co.uk

The sales guy is a tosser of the Nth degree. I mean, he won't let me test drive it, he won't register the car without a deposit and he won't let me do an RAC check.

I did look over it, but there's no way I can tell if it's misfiring or detonating except under full load. I can't tell if the auto-box is smooth either without driving it. It's 10 years old and been boosted with HKS FCON, defi gauges etc.

I've put pressure on the seller, he says someone coming to look at it this weekend...if that guy doesn't buy it, we can 'talk turkey'.

The car is 10+ old if you do a RAC or AA check the list of thing that they don't like on a Jap import will be massive and put you off buying, trust your instincts.

What ever you buy you will start spending more on, you will want to change lots !!

Had mine 4 weeks, new tyres, new wheels and now in tuners.

My wish list is massive :) this is normal for people that mod cars.

Go on your instint and buy if you like it

New, perfect cars, that cost far more break, i'll assure you.

The more you risk the more you gain if it pays off. It's the percentages of risk you have to be comfy with that count :) :)

The RAC probably don't do anything worse than a Japanese 'shaker' test which the car would have had to pass every 2 years. So I don't expect anything bad to come up minor-fault-wirse.

The main thing for me is it hasn't been crashed.

But a dodgy steering rack (known prob) can be 1500 quid, a brake servo £2000 and a new gearbox £3700. So I would like to verify everything first.

You can't be serious even thinking of buying from somewhere that won't let you test drive it, or have it inspected? You probably aren't missing much anyway, the only decent thing to come out of Bradford is the M62 :)

Ha, ha mate, well said, you are the Oracle of Mkivsupra.net :p- you get the 2ND prize in 24 hours. :p

Either the guy is hiding something major or he's just a 'nugget'. :D

I don't actually think there is anything too wrong with the car as he's prob.had this checked in Japan, it sounded sweet on the passenger-test drive, but his reluctance to have the car inspected/test driven by the client is bizarre. When I challenged him about the 'test drive' he said 'if you were serious and put down a £500 deposit I'd have let you test drive it'. I'm hardly going to put a deposit down with driving the car first!!!!

If the seller is a tosser, why buy it?! Chances are he will be dishonest and pull a fast one if he can.

Go through a reputable company or contact an importer like Juergen.

I've used RAC inspection on a Supra before and found that they were very good! They spotted a leaking Heater Matrix (I wouldn't have found that) and a brake fluid leak which I did suspect. Also some underbody damage...that's why the seller was reluctant for an inspection

All car dealers are tossers :p

The car could easily be a well looked after car from Japan (or a total dog) - it just happens to be this tosser has brought it into the country. I'd rather buy somewhere else but there is little choice in black Aristo V300s.

UPDATE : Some wally has bought the for-mentioned car. I expect without a proper test drive or RAC check.

Anything from mis-fire to bent chassis....some people are just so casual about things.

I doubt the seller has told the buyer it needs 100 octane only or the HKS Fcon will detonate the engine to bits....

you've made probably a lucky escape then, I had a vehicle check done (not RAC, but similar) and picked up loads of things I wouldn't. Best £175(??) I ever spent, after I told the guy about the results of the report his words were "I'll not let anyone do one of those again", so I reckon someone already did, or he knew what it would throw up, and therefore wouldn't let you get one done. If you've got nothing to hide, why not let them do it....

people that seem dodgy, are for a reason;)

Fair comment mate....but he would let me have my own mechanic look at, that wasn't practical as I live about 300 miles from seller.

Deal might fall thru and he's forced to do RAC...not likely....:(

Go and find another one then :)

Ain't that easy mate. Typical wait for a black V300 with the right spec could = 2 years (that's how long Gareth from Envy waited).

I've agreed to buy several cars and they've all fallen thru...

Perhaps the seller knew that :p

Nah, the Aristo V300 2JZ-GTE car is a bit weird - they're not very easy to find, but the demand is really low too. So you could be waiting months to get rid of one.

Conversely, if you're looking for the right spec, it could take months/years to find one. I may import directly from Japan.
