Jake
What would you call the delay in a compressor creating positive boost pressure due to insufficient exhaust gas flow? (such as RedM is describing) Dunno. I just call it spool.
Daston
lag to me is when you put your foot fully down and nothing happens for a while.

JohnA
Technically lag is the time it takes to build boost after you put your foot down while revs are above the boost threshold If you run in TT mode, you can't complain of lag if you put your foot down at 2K or 3Krpm, since you have hacked the car yourself to raise the boost threshold up to 4Krpm At 5Krpm, go full throttle and see how long it takes to get boost. THAT is lag;) Unresponsiveness is a whole different thing (can be due to mismatched components, bad mapping etc) and in unsorted turbo cars it can be very frustrating. But it isn't lag. Thorin
Can't say I'm bothered by "lag" other than sometimes if you're changing up right at the 4k switchover point and then the sequential system can sometimes get it's knickers in a twist. Chiefgroover
The answer is change you old tech supra for a grunty derv, and enjoy motoring that obviously suits your driving style. I loathe oil burners, but most folks love em!.
mikeyb10supra
you will go a long way to find another turbo car even by todays standars to match the pickup of the stock J-spec turbos and the power they delliver...personally cant see what the fuss is about to be honest

Try one of the new BMW offerings. 335i - Twin Turbo, inline 6, 3 litre... familiar setup and apparently more powerful than BMW state and rather rapid. Gazboy
Can't say I've ever noticed this low rpm pick-up you are wittering on about. My car has more power and torque at every rpm point from tickover to redline than my brothers M3.
