JustGav
I use a cheapy pc (mini-itx) as the main firewall for everything in the house running IPcop with a URL filter. Pretty much stops everything and the beauty being since it isn't on the kids pc's they can't remove it or get round it.

That's true, there's nice solutions out there for running on a separate proxy server (Dansguardian for example), but as he mentions it's to go on a relatives PC I try K9. I've not used it personally but it's supposedly very good, BlueCoat make some very good enterprise webfilter boxes.

Yeah, we have deployed a few bluecoat units here at work, and they do seem rather good to be fair. I shall have to look at DansGuardian as I've not used it before.... Babe
Whatever you use, cross your fingers he doesn't know about proxy servers. Last High School I taught in had all sorts of web security, but every day some little git found a proxy server we hadn't heard of and used that to access all sorts of naughties!
