problems around the corner

I bought a new battery today as the (4 months) old one wouldn't start the car after just 2 days without use  Before doing this I checked the battery drain; with the alarm dis-armed and nothing else on it came out as 13mA:Pling: I think I read it should only be about 3mA?? I got this figure by disconnecting the (-) lead from the terminal and then put the ammeter between the lead and terminal...is that right?

Something else I think might be a problem soon is the power steering. I swear it felt a lot heavier today than normal at low speeds, also i heard a screeching noise from the engine bay whilst turning the wheel in a reverse maneuver the other day.

Lastly the AC. I never use it but today i put it on and when driving it was definitely making loud noises when in gear above 2.5K revs.

Please someone tell me its just my paranoia playing me up :taped:

re. the power steering, have you checked your fluid? Might need topping up or a change.

Are you getting any errors stored at all? My steering is constantly heavy due to a knackered connection behind the dash. When my speedo stops working it gets light, weird.

I did check the fluid, both hot and cold and it seems to be on the mark(s). I haven't checked the codes but will do tomorrow :)

Is this a wind up?

no course its not! Although now you point it out it does seem weird that I've noticed all three things acting up and didnt check the one thing they all have in common :badidea: :D saying that, I checked the engine bay with the engine running today after having these problems, and although I didn't specifically look at the acc. belt, nothing jumped out at me. What should I look for? I swear the belt is quite tight on the pulleys though

Thanks!

Get that sorted!!

Steering is speed dependant, so coud be wise to sort that out!

I'm on it mate. I took everything apart and found a dodgy connection and it seemed to cure the problem for a while. Now it's come back though. Will have to look harder.
