Angarak
I noticed a while back when I had to remove the turbo heatshield to fix a boost leak that both my turbo's had writing on them. Im sure Toyota have no need to do this when they rolled off the production line, so was left wondering if they are likely to be hybrids or some second hand ones (the car came with FCON and boost controller, and low mileage, so theres the chance they over-indulged with the boost and blew the turbo's). I know you can't tell if they are hybrids without taking the turbo's off, but I just want someone to clarify that the factory stock turbo's dont come with writing on them like shown below: http://mooch.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/supra/turbo_writing.jpg Cheers
Daston
Mine do not have that on them. Not sure how you can check if they are hybrids without taking them apart. Is your heat sheild polished?

Tricky-Ricky
It could be that your car has been fitted with some used ones at some time, and the writing is the SH dealers indexing.
JohnA
Yep, they've probably blown in the past and have been swapped with used ones
mattanna
scrap dealers mark everything usually, for instance i have an aerial from a scrap dealer which has their hand written code on it, as people have said replacement turbo's probably
