osso
Hi all, Does anyone know what causes the idle speed to run low? My idle speed is around 450rpm when warm and with the aircon off, when the aircon is switch on, it is a touch under 600rpm I tend to notice these idle problems more when i am approaching a roundabout up hill, especially as i crawl up a hill in first gear, without throttle.. the engine will stutter and struggle sometimes so much so the idle will dip under 200rpm.. in these situations i need to help the car along with some throttle I have also noticed that my sequential system is a little dodgy too, the second turbo doesnt always come on, i find by letting off the trottle and reapply the trottle to the metal, the second turbo will usually kick in, and when it does im boosting up to 1.1 bar. any suggestions? if anyone breaths a word of a single turbo then they gonna get Cheers James ps. could the idle speed run low if there's a very small boost leak in the system perhaps? I am just guessing here. im just after ideas at the moment.

richardharmon
Don't know about the idle but I had exactly the same problem with my second turbo, turned out to be a split hose. This thread by Ian C is just the ticket for diagnosing this problem: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27904
merckx
I sometimes get the same problem on my VVTI . I went for a drive the other day, got back home and when I started it about twenty minutes later the revs had also dropped right down. It's only happens when the engine is hot.
