I have a intermitten rattle from my car and think ive tracked it down but not sure what it is (not good with cars really)

The part making the noise is below the Cams, There is a silver round thing (technical i know) :) and this is whats making the noise, it only does it intermittenly when idlying or if you tad the throttle really lightly

1. Anyone else had this, easy/expencive fix?

2. What is the part called.

Thanks for any help.

Has anyone had one of these make a rattling noise before, is it common problem with old ones?

Just want to make sure this is the cause of the problem before i replace it.

To check you could remove the aux belt, spin the tensioner wheel (to see if it feels knackered/worn) and if still unsure start the car and see if the noise is still there.......you do not want to run the car for long like this as the water pump alternator etc will not be working. (NB it could be one of these making the noise)

You'll need a 14mm spanner, small hands and possibly someone else to make it easier to put back on......
