Can any one in the know tell me if this set up is any good for the xbox in a spare room rather than buying a tv. Seems a pretty good price to me but I know nothing about such items.

Thanks Dave.

I brought a second hand projector from Stonkin on hear and set it up in the bedroom with an electric screen, it is working really well, I run a digital TV box through it and a PS2, for occasional TV watching and games it is fantastic, I would not want on for the main TV though as the room really needs to be dark to use them to there full ;)

To be honest mate, the listing doesn't tell you too much about the projector, it doesn't even tell you the make.

1200 lumins sounds OK, but before I bought mine I read lots of reviews to make sure I was buying a good model. In the end I went for a panasonic, It's slime line which is important as I've got it ceiling mounted and had it for over 3 years now and it's been brilliant. The blacks are really black and the overall picure quality is excellent.

That one on eBay looks a little chunky, I'd go for something slimmer.

Here's a pic of mine....

a quick dig around reveals that the projector has a 500:1 contrast ratio - not brilliant, the native resolution of the projector is 640x480 (less than Pal which is 768 (realistically 720) x 576) but it will scale 1024x768 to project it.

On the face of it when you include the screen and the replacement lamp it's probably about the money but I'd do some research first to see if there are any better deals about. Given that the native resolution is so low, Fine for TV but you're losing out on DVD and probably XBOX - no good for future proofing either, have a scout around.
