Al Massey
its cr*p, im sure theres more impotant criminals to get, i mean why catch a peado or thief or murderer when you can get a motorist doing a few miles over the limit and make a few bob. Havard
They do thier purpose, they catch people who should learn to control thier right foot. I am glad you don't speed Mark. You are a really good person, well better than me anyway!! It's Policing at its best!! Money, money, money although the crime and the issues surrounding it still remain. Just think, if they stopped us all speeding them they wouldn't have any money!! H.
j80leo
They do thier purpose, they catch people who should learn to control thier right foot. whats the point of having a high power supra if you only drive it to the speed limit? jamesmark
whats the point of having a high power supra if you only drive it to the speed limit? Hmmmm, so if you were driving the car to the speed limit why did you get caught?
jamesmark
I am glad you don't speed Mark. You are a really good person, well better than me anyway!! H. I never said I didn't, I have 6 points (12 in total since passing my test) however if I speed, then if I am caught there is only one person to blame and that is me, as I was the silly twat to speed in the first place. Keep it to open roads as usually mobile cameras are used in built up areas, (road works excluded)
Havard
whats the point of having a high power supra if you only drive it to the speed limit? Because that's what is...........a limit!! It is designed to keep people safe and alive! I think you should be argueing along the lines that they catch people who are not speeding massively over the limit and punishing people for a simple mistake. If you are driving like a twat then they actually become an effective method of punishment! That's what you meant wasn't it? H.
Clarkey
whats the point of having a high power supra if you only drive it to the speed limit? What about tracking your car ? No need to worry about points or fines then. I think it's fair to say - you run the risk of having an accident more so, on the road than you would on a race track. heartworm
I dont mind them outside schools and places like that, down a nice country road or at the side of the motorway they really annoy me, places where a little excess speed is of no real harm. I understand it in and around town but think down long parts of the motorway its unfair.
j80leo
from what your saying is everyone should be doing the speed limit and yes i do agree but everyone now and again has a moment where they have a little blast or there would be no point in having a supra you might as well have a 1 ltr fiesta:)

Clarkey
if you track it then you can also crash it easier i do not go crazy never do just enjoy a little speed The car only goes as fast as your right foot. And unless you're a complete prat at the wheel on a track - then yes, I agree .. you'd probably crash. Tbh bud, if you're prepared to press the loud pedal on a public road - then be prepared to accept the possibility of getting caught. Simple as. I just so wish I'd tracked my car during the 3yrs that I owned it.

DaveK
if you track it then you can also crash it easier i do not go crazy never do just enjoy a little speed OK, so let's clarify a detail you've omitted then. Speed cameras are usually in town - as somebody has already mentioned - so what was the speed limit, and how fast were you travelling? Class One
It's Policing at its best!! Money, money, money although the crime and the issues surrounding it still remain. Just think, if they stopped us all speeding them they wouldn't have any money!! H. Hi, that's not quite true and you know it. Firstly, mobile "Camera Safety Partnership" vans are manned by civilians, the paperwork is done by a computer and dealt with by civilians, and yes in some local authority/Policing areas the fines generated from speeding motorists help finance the scheme. Yes I agree that they are a means of revenue raising and they are very unpopular with the motoring public. But is is the Governments aiming to make speeding as socially unacceptable as drink diving is now. Remember 30 years ago, drink driving was seen as the norm. Also as for the "they should be out there trying to catch real criminals" well they are. The Police I mean, as the revenue raising vans don't use day to day policing resources. Where the real waste of money is going on Policing at the moment, and where the public are being conned on a massive scale is the Policing on the cheap agenda set by the Government by employing Community Support Officers. They have no real powers, inadequate training and are a drain on resources because more often or not they blunder into a situation that they are not able to deal with, the Police Officers have to attend and sort it out. PCSO's......Police will Come and Sort it Out. I'm not an advocate of camera vans, I see them as revenue raisers too, but they do on occasion serve a purpose. I'm not a pariah, I exceed the limit on unrestricted roads from time to time, but never in a posted 30,40 or 50.
DaveK
40 limit i was doing nearly 50:( So, built up area and you were going plenty fast enough to kill a pedestrian. I'm afraid I also agree with the comment that if you speed, you have to accept you may get caught. I speed - and I'd be pissed off if I got caught - but I wouldn't be blaming the police for it. DaveK
Incidentally - coming over the brow of a hill at 50, such that you couldn't see the camera van parked the other side of it - doesn't seem like the safest driving in the world anyway. What if there had been an obstruction on the other side of the hill?

DaveK
very slight bump in the road not a hill as such:) Surely if it was a very slight bump in the road, the camera van couldn't really have been "hidden" on the other side of the brow of the hill? Stevie Boy
from what your saying is everyone should be doing the speed limit and yes i do agree but everyone now and again has a moment where they have a little blast or there would be no point in having a supra you might as well have a 1 ltr fiesta:) I'm sure anyone could rack-up a few points in a 1litre Fiesta too, if they wanted to! You could still break the speed limits in buit-up areas in one!
j80leo
Surely if it was a very slight bump in the road, the camera van couldn't really have been "hidden" on the other side of the brow of the hill? well it was not a big hill just a raised section where the road goes up and levels off it was not a built up area no houses on either side off the road quite safe
