rpslaughter1982
When I purchased my car there was quite a loud thud when selecting 1st gear from neutral. I had the car checked by a vehicle examining company (VCS i think - not worth the money) who didn't report any faults. The noise is now getting louder and can also be heard when selcting 2nd gear. Any ideas if this is normal or what may be wrong? (BTW jap spec tt 6sp manual)

Suprasteve
you're no alone there i thought the same when i got mine but after spending £400 on having it taken apart and checked i was told - its a "characteristic" of the getrag gearbox. you'll get used to it, some days it doesn't happen, some day it does - more so in the cold weather. colsoop
If you wanted a refined and noiseless box the Supra wasn't a good choice It is noisy and clunky. Make sure you use the right oil though and it is great when you get used to it.

supRo
Absolutely normal - It's well documented. I had my car for 3 years/45,000 miles. That noise was there when I bought my car and did not ever get worst and nothing dropped off!

edge
Mine does it too. A clonk noise when going into 1st from nuetral. Chris wilson once described them as "tractor like gearboxes"
n boost
Same here, I get the clunk and also rattling at low revs as i have a lightweight flywheel. Shit me up the first time i heard it, been over 2yrs now and still going strong.
