JamesG Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 Thought I'd share some pictures of my new car. It's a Krypton Green S2 Elise 111s. It seems to be a marmite colour (no, I don't mean dirty brown!) - you either love it or you hate it I believe there's only about 4 Krypton Green Elises in the country as it is an Exige colour, not a standard Elise colour. I bought it at British Car Auctions in Bedford yesterday. I was hoping to buy the car from the leasing company (who I tracked down from the previous owner on the Lotus forum) before it got to auction, but it got sent there before the leasing company auction manager got back off holiday so I had no choice but to chance it at the auctions. The auction itself was really, really scary. I got there early, but you aren't allowed to look under the bonnet or in the interior. The first chance you get to hear the engine is when it's started up to be driven into the auction hall. I had to bid against all the car dealers who apparently don't like private buyers and will sometimes bid out of spite to make the price higher! The auctioneers are incredibly talented when you watch what they are doing. The dealers just make the tiniest nod to place a bid. The difficulty is they talk very fast as they have hundreds of cars to get through and each car gets sold in less than a minute! I spent about 90 mins listening to them before the Elise came up, and gradually got the hang of what they were saying The car attracted an unbelievable amount of attention amongst all the Vauxhalls and Fords everyone crowded in when it got driven into the auction hall to see it being sold.
