DamanC
Probably a bit much tbh, depends on the quality of the paint job and ultimately the artist. They can be had for as little as £20 Nice painting you have there, I would give what you paid for it.
Blackie
yeah i think your right, to me it is worth £40 but i really dont know what they go for. i know if i painted it i would want loads for it
dangerous brain
The materials cost pretty much what you paid for it. Art is a subjective thing. How anyone would pay millions for a scabby and repeatedly preserved and reconditioned oil painting is beyond me but there are galleries around the world full of them. Todd
yeah i think your right, to me it is worth £40 but i really dont know what they go for. i know if i painted it i would want loads for it Stick it in a cheap frame, hang it in your local restaurant or cafe and stick a price tag of £200 on it That's what everyone else seems to do
DaveK
I think that the mug / tabletop effect above the sky adds a nice post modernist impression.
RedM
We (well, my other half) buy a lot of paintings. Mostly limited run prints and a few originals. £40 is cheap for a painting that size. We payed (thanks Jake) £285 for a first run print of similar dimensions. You painting isn't my cup of tea but if it looks good on your wall then it's all cool. Ewen
Its more of an attractive object than Damien Hursts diamond encrusted skull that went for £50 million today....in that respect, you got a good deal.
Branners
I looked at that and immediately thought 'Bob Ross'. Basically he came up with a technique to do oil paintings very easily and its now taught all over the world in places like Hobbycraft etc. People can come up with exceptional pictures from it. Heres another one, just ignore the orange suited person somebody has stuck on to it as thats not what Bob Ross was about. http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4223/banksyremixpaintingzy6.jpg They used to show him doing a full painting in half an hour on Discovery. On a slow morning its quite relaxing to watch as he created some stunning scenes. Do a search on google for some of his work. Basically somebody has done the Bob Ross course and done a painting from that. JB
michael
Bob rules, such a calming voice combined with awesome hair. As for your painting, if it's worth £40 to you then that's all that matters, enjoy it.

Blackie
I think that the mug / tabletop effect above the sky adds a nice post modernist impression. thats things i have added to it to make it more interesting for you all, please notice there is also a disc lock there too, to give the perseption of us being "locked into society"
colsoop
If you were happy with the £40 thats all that matters. As was said i suspect the materials weren't far off that figure. I sometimes watch Bob on Discovery too, he makes it look too easy

colsoop
i'm well happy with it, i cant understand how the bloke would want nearly noting for his time and effort Some people just enjoy doing it. Spending a few hours painting might be fun for this person and all they want back is enough cash to buy more materials > repeat ad infinitum
