Foz
Hiya all, suddenly (as some nice bloke flashed me last night and pulled me over to tell me) my rear clusters dont light up when i put my lights on although they work fine when i brake. Ive checked the bulbs and also the fuses (is there a seperate fuse for the rear clusters?) but all seems fine. Any ideas anyone? Thanks all. ads274
Bump. Just wondering what your resolution was, Foz? I got home last night and realised all my rear lights were not working yet all the other lights, including brakes, were working! I think its the same issue as yours. Foz
Hiya Ads, its still not working but ive yet to check the fuse box under the drivers side, im positive its going to be the fuse in there. If not then im stumped! Ill check tonight and let you know! Cheers pal. Foz.
SteveR
I blew the rear light cluster fuse on my Supra messing about without thinking when I did the fog light mod. The fuse box is in the driver's footwell - twist yourself into a stupid position half in/out of the car and look upwards and you should see it. IIRC the lid has the fuse payout on it. Foz
Well checked the fuse and theyre fine, bought some new bulbs but they dont work, although if i put the new bulbs in the brake lights to test them they work fine....so im stumped. Got it booked into an Auto Elec on Friday so he can tell me how stoopied im being......lol
SteveR
Stick a multimeter in the bulb socket and see if there is any voltage. Yes = crappy connection between bulb holder & the bulb, see if the holder is bent or corroded No = search for 'fuse' 'lights' 'boot' ~similar; IIRC there is one somewhere Is this any use? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=110006
Foz
Ahh right thanks for that, ive just dropped it off at the Auto Elec, ill give them a call and tell them thats where the problem may be. Hope they dont charge me a small fortune for that if it is the problem. Thanks Steve.
Foz
Ok just picked the car up from the auto elec, its all fixed. It DID turn out to be the relay in the boot (its on the passenger side in the boot behind the plastic panels apparantly for anyone who wants to know). After reading the last post from SteveR i rang the elec and told him about the relay in the boot, he said thanks he'll check it and it turned out to be that. that swine still charged me £94 tho!! it wasnt with him longer than an hour n half and hes said hed not replaced it just FIXED it.....ah great thanks afer we told you where to find the problem! hahah. Oh well, had a re-test and its all done now bless her, not bad for two years ownership and all shes cost me through two tests is some bulbs and a couple of tyres, donthca just love Supes? How can a 13 year old car p*ss all over most of the cars on the road today! Thanks all! Foz.
SteveR
Glad it got fixed - £94 though! A new relay would have been less than a fiver, so that makes his labour charge ~£200/hour! I'd have quizzed that, but the main thing is at least it's fixed - glad I could be of help.
