dazla
I'm just wondering if it is ok to removed the heat sheild from the cat. Or should i try and sort the rattle out? would it do any harm because i feel like ripping the bugger off:)
Homer
I'm just wondering if it is ok to removed the heat sheild from the cat. Or should i try and sort the rattle out? would it do any harm because i feel like ripping the bugger off:) Front or mid one? Personally I'd keep the front one in as it can heat things up in the footwell and cabin if it's removed, especially if you have an auto box. Mid ones don't make too much difference IME Personally I'd try to fix them.
dazla
Its the front one. The chap who i bought it off said he cut it back to fit the exhaust. but theres a piece left as far as i can see. Mine is a manual, so would it not get as heated then?
dazla
Car went in today to have the heat sheild sorted. They managed to fix the rattle without taking it off:d Then as i left the garage i still had the rattle:( I went straight back to get it on the ramps, we were all trying to find this rattle that was drivers front end. After 2 hours of playing we found that a bolt had come loose on the front fixing of the bumper. So thats what some of the rattling was. All sorted now though. Amazing how something so small can make such a racket:blink:
Dazzi
Ive got this rattle so jacked up the car last night to remove the rusty heatshield. Still rattles! I think its the inside of the 1st cat thats gone bad. Still got the original one on from 1996.
