supradibbs
As tittle have these bolts in my big end caps can they be reused or are they a one shot deal
Chris Wilson
ALWAYS renew big end bolts unless YOU fitted them, or you KNOW what they are, when they were fitted, and that the engine has never had an over rev since. ARP make a quite decent big end bolt kit for the stock rods.

Jake
You think? Have you not stripped the bottom end yet then? Do you know what caused the spun bearing? Are you running a raised rev limit? It's not the sort of job you'd want to have to do again mate

Are you running a raised rev limit? It's not the sort of job you'd want to have to do again mate its jamie ps old engine that i have brought from him no3 has taken a bit i was told it was a spun shell but looks more like the piston has suffered a sieze as its lightly marked the bore and piston and same on the no3 position on the crank i will no more soon as am taking it into the shop today
Chris Wilson
If it's spun rod bearings I'd renew the affected rods, or at the very least have them resized and re balanced. If it's spun any main bearings I'd get another block, having the mains sized and align bored and honed will cost 10 times what a good used block will cost. supradibbs
ok looks like i need a new rod crank re shell new trust bearings bugger looks like the guys who built it before did it on the cheap and only ground no3 on the crank which i think caused the no3 shell to spin
Chris Wilson
Just ground one rod journal...? Lovely, just beautiful, you gotta love these engine builders. Sometimes I think doing a good job is like wetting yourself in a dark suit. You get a nice warm feeling, but no bugger notices.
