matt
By the time a laser is detected its too late......... unless you get lucky and pick up a bounced signal from a car in front. You need a laser diffuser/jammer. Not legal , but effective..... also known as 'Garage door openers'
Chris Wilson
Are Valentine ones still the best? If so are they best bought direct from the USA? Thanks.
eyefi
some american units focus on some different wavelengths to the euro ones, i think its generally wise to get the euro model unless u know them to b the same. i think "best" is alot more subjective these days. Certainly the best for Radar and as for Laser, as has been said if you can pick up a bit of "scatter" you might get lucky. I don't think Valentine will honour the warranty if you import direct though.
far
I recently got rid of my snooper s6-r and laser detector - I have ordered a TOM TOM go and put some money towards. It was a money thing really if I have enough cash I would have had both. Im going to download the speed camera DB for the tom tom which should work out better as Im on a budget Yes the laser bit is a little useless as it will only tell you when you have been caught but equally it has saved my butt from 'laser scatter' on one occasion since having it, I slowed down after it making an alert and only noticed a Five O afterwards.I was in a string of traffic at the time though,if I was at the front Im sure I would have needed a diffuser
martynb
I've had one "scatter" escape as well. Lucky enough we don't get much laser up here, the local plod preferring to invest in millions of gatso's instead and the mobile traps are usually the radar hairdryers my Valentine gives me at least half a mile warning on I have got a Road Pilot as well though for when I venture through cambridgeshire and oop north towards nottingham where I see more specs and truvello. Not saying the essex plod love to raise cash or anything but I have to through two sets of roadworks each day and in total I have to checkout 24 gatso's - Valentine is on fire by the end and I have to mute the annoying cow in the Road Pilot
