JohnA
I later found out they aren't registered with companies house Maybe it's not a limited company. In that case each partner is liable for the whole amount. Without even bothering with liability insurance, they'd better have their house deeds on their wives' names. colsoop
Thats not great but Its not the end of the world. it can be fixed As others have said find somewhere else, preferably someone who can spray-without taking the piss and leaving handles and seals in place

Guest Nicholas
I think we should be told the name of the garage in question. Shocking workmanship.
robin
That is shocking. They owe you the car back completely repaired to at least the same standard it was when it went in. I think you are also owed something for the loss of use. Cant believe they think thats acceptable.
garetheves
Truely shocking, surely they cant get away with that. Id be absolutely fuming.
GeordieSteve
I put 6 months tax on the car when they said it was complete and ready to go... since then I've drove it about 5 or 6 times and now the tax is due again this weekend! Car still doesn't cold start

GeordieSteve
Gonna write a letter up tonight to go legal. Had a quote from a garage to have it resprayed so the options seem to be: 1) He buys the car off me 2) He has it resprayed by a pro 3) He takes my Supra and gives me his Skyline
jim_supra
Sorry to hear this Steve, that paintwork is truly awful. Keep your chin up (easier said than done, I know) and hopefully it'll be sorted soon.
Golddigga
And if the legal approach fails and you have to take the soop elsewhere to be finished wait for 6 months and with the knowledge in mind that he has no insurance Bye, bye garage. Only joking of course Seriously, I would suggest a trip to the Citizens advice bureau. I have used them before and they are good.
Stratty
It is a disgrace... At least you are starting to get the ball rolling. Make sure you either hand deliver the letter to them or send it registered mail. It can easily be said that he didnt receive the letter. Also, get a lawyer to read your letter first. It will save you a lot of hassle in the long run. At the end of the day, he has screwed up and should be liable for all costs incurred to put it right. I doubt he will give you his Skyline however; if he doesnt have the money to pay for your car to be done elsewhere, then he needs to free up some capital to pay for it so ya never know... Don't take second best. Make sure that you come out a winner on this one.
Pig
What a nightmare. Good luck with it - If they re-do the car make sure you take a pro with you before you accept it
Havard
Jesus! They are really taking the pi$$ now Steve. I would threaten the legal route. I would also suggest a word with the VAT man too! I don't understand that a garage without insurance is allowing expensive vehicles to be left there..... H.
michael
That finish amounts to vandalism in my eyes.
T2 MSW
you said you have driven the car, does that mean you have accepted it back? I would be pi$$ed if this was my car and really feel for you. I would not recommend naming and shaming the garage if your going to take legal action as it does not look good, also could be an issue if you have accepted the car back in that state? GeordieSteve
you said you have driven the car, does that mean you have accepted it back? Not quite... I took it back for the cold start fixed, boost hose fixed, map fixed etc. then it was smashed up when it was in there. Here's some photies of it smashed up
RobDogg
That is absolutely bang out of order. If it was me and he was giving it back to me in that state I don't think I could of held myself back.
GeordieSteve
Yeah well I had to leave before I really lost control. It's like everythign I've done over the past 4 years has turned to sh*t. Just bought a house so REALLY need this car gone. No chance of that now
Sharpie
Man! I feel for you, they should be reported! I hope you get it sorted.
MLC
I'm amazed they managed to come to the misguided conclusion anyone would accept that kind of work. Legal-wise I think you have rejected it (as you naturally have), you have to give them a single chance to put it right. After that you are free to sue and get the work done at their cost at whatever garage you choose. Not sure on this but i think it's illegal for them to trade with the public or employ anyone without insurance, so he's either lying or he's going to have a lot more to worry about when it goes to court. I remember the initial thread you posted when you mentioned a vendetta or grudge against the garage? Sounds like you arn't the first.
supRo
Take legal action right now. If he has got a proper business then his insurance should cover it anyway.
Gaz Walker
Good god, thats awful Steve. I really feel for you as first it was MKIVStore disaster and now this - I'm not surprised you've gone off Supras! As I said I am not surprised in the least, but anything I can do to help let me know.
