Paul
My daily driver failed it's MOT today (Toyota 4Runner), the centre exhaust was knackered and this is being sorted but also they failed it on a brake imbalance of 27% at the front? I'm guessing this means it's pulling on braking? Gonna change pads but I'm thinking that this is actually being caused by the pins sticking or the caliper not sliding and binding a bit? Would a good clean up and greaseing of the pins and or the calipers do the job? No fluid loss or remarks about traces of fluid on calipers so I'm hoping it's not the seals. Any help appreciated. Paul Yeah thats right one brake working better/worse than the other on the same axle. its more than likely just ceased up pads and will be fine after a strip, clean and lube, toyota callpiers are pretty good and we rarly replace many at work. You might have fun getting the pins out tho;)

You might have fun getting the pins out tho;) Yeah I know about the pins, a fly press was the best way to get them out of the Supra I've bottled it with this one and got a fixed price from a local garage who are fitting new pads in the morning. They could do with replacing anyway but at the same time they can struggle with the pins and give them a good clean:D I'm hoping that sorts it, prefer to do it myself but ain't got time or enthusiasm as it's only a truck thing. Got a centre section of exhaust coming in the morning too, what a pain in the arse that was to get hold of ! Nobody stocked them locally and wanted something like a week to get one, not something I expected.

Still good that it just failed on two items, when we see them in they are 'shitters' and you can write an essay of faults:) Anyways good luck for your retest;)

Paul
Doh Turns out to be a seized offside caliper. They wanted £250 for a caliper, I've ordered one new online for £85 plus vat;) Going to get them to fit this and new discs/pads. Hubs need removing to do the discs, £180 labour to do the lot. Could have done without but at least it'll be sorted. Funny cause I don't flinch at spending cash on the Supra but then that's more of a hobby/interest for me yet forking out hundreds on a 'truck' just to get me to work and back is more difficult to accept:( Paul

I did see the caliper in question, crowbar on the piston and it didn't move They say the hubs need removing, bearings etc to do the discs, is this BS or correct? Paul
BTW, the bloody pins almost fell out they were that good (the pins not the mechanics)!

Crowbar:blink: must have been stuck;) yeah thats right, its calliper off, free wheeling hub mech off, wheel bearing nut off. The disc and half the bearing will then come off the shaft, after that its just a case of unbolting the old disc and hitting it untill comes apart:) There not BS'ing you;) and lucky the pins came out too:)
