Nic
Here are some pics of my Cusco master cylinder brace Wes. It helped firm up the pedal feel and increase braking effect under heavy braking. It varies quite a bit from model to model, but there is a fair bit of flex in the brake master cylinder without one of these fitted. http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7042/attachmentphpib1.jpg http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3512/attachment1phpud4.jpg http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/6375/attachment2phpsw6.jpg
Tricky-Ricky
Made a heat shield to protect my boost solenoid, as its fitted in the same area as yours Nic, and the by product of it is it works as a Brake master cylinder brace, as its bolted to the side of the master cylinder and the inner wing;)

Not sure but it looks like yours, I will let you know how I get on. How much are they normally then?

I know there are some knock offs on ebay which look identical, from what i remember reading the material and fit was a bit suspect. The Cusco one is around £60 delivered from memory

It'll be one like the item I flogged a bit ago: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=104988& They seem to be getting cheaper though if the postage isn't too much. Mine is still sitting in the garage, I suspect I'll flog it and get a Carbing once I finally get around to sorting things out under the bonnet. Kranz
I got a Cusco one for £25 I think, off Ebay. Must have been a bargain!
Class One
I got one from Envy and have to say they definately seem to firm up pedal feel coupled with braided lines and new fluid.
Ark
Doug, I think most of that would be the lines and fluid. When I fitted a brace, it made absolutely no difference. I think I've only kept it out of bloody-mindedness, because I spent good money on it.
Guest Suprafly
The master cylinder brace stops the flex on the bulkhead, thus giving a firmer feel to your brake pedal, does nothing to improve braking at all. You can test this by getting someone to pump your brake pedal and you can see how far the master cylinder moves forwards. For what they're worth they are a good mod penny for pound.
