Muffleman
Done the one-on-one Elise day at Thruxton a few times, you'll have a blast mate Oh, and the Mazda 3 is the MPS so 260ish bhp if memory serves.

JustGav
I've done the thruxton...tight bastards don't let you thrash em, and they are limited as I discovered....
Whitesupraboy2
I might bounce it off the rev limiter as I go over the line for the last lap then to let them know what I think of that.

Spot on, limited to 4000 I think ? The Elise day is good, they let you drive to the edge of your ability and then reel you in
ivan
Have fun - you'll love it. :D Anyone going to film it for you? If so, post it here. I want to see the unedited version mind - the one where you spin the Renault.

Branners
I did one of these at Silverstone. Started in a Pug306 GTI and then on to a formula ford single seater. Great fun. The instructor in the Pug kept telling me to push the car harder and harder which was pretty cool, and the formula ford things were a right laugh. You will learn a lot about the correct lines for being on a track, you will always turn in too early and they will try to beat that out of you. At first I thought you were going to take the abflug on a track day, and in answer to your question "what can I expect?' I was going to answer 'all your body panels to fly off!!'. Or if anything like my Silverstone day on Monday, you can expect to wear the outside shoulders from your tyres despite lots of negative camber, pop your main boost pipe, leak oil like a bitch, and blow a thrust bearing...and still corner faster than anything short of a Radical SR1 :D:D Running 140 BHP (fly) with a busted engine really makes you concentrate on carrying speed through the turns

Whitesupraboy2
nope, had a good day. In the porsche I got stuck behind a queue of 5 cars going slowly the instructor told me to drive up their arse so they would move over which I did, but that wasted 1 lap of mine. I found it hard to not tap the brake when going through church but I tell you the back of the circuit is very fast. Now the single seater limited to 4000 revs but It was still very good fun. I stayed commited to it around the back and didnt brake but god it was scary back of the car jumping all over the place. There was one moment where I overtook a ferrari and being completely off the racing line made me poop my pants as I took a corner at 100mph. 5 laps goes quickly though and my shoulders are killing, being tall has its downfalls. Overall Id say worth the price for the experience, people who can afford a proper track car are very lucky.

JustGav
Glad to see you enjoyed it... I was probably a bit harsh of my critism, they do limit them , but it doesn't completely ruin the fun. I know exactly what you mean by banging it on the limiter down the straight... it is good fun..
Whitesupraboy2
You were a little harsh , there is 2 places you clearly sit on the rev limiter apart from that if your using the gears right your ok, its just annoying missing all that top end grunt but then the engines have to last. Coming up to the chicane at the end of the lap was worse part for hitting the limiter, as well as that people took that chicane so slow it was doing my nut in! patrikbrunt
I did the single seater thing at thruxton for my 21st bday... was awesome fun, found the gear change really hard though, I tried for 2nd at that last chicane by the pits, but couldnt find it for my life so had to stay with 4th.... very slow!! Would definitely do it again though.

The poor bloke in the ferrari just saw this single seater squirming under hard braking as I almost polished bumper...
