Richie 400TT
Hi there everyone, Wondered if someone could shead some light on this problem i have. I went full BPU 5 months ago (not sure this makes any difference) and now when she is warm and idling i get blue smoke from the exhaust! Usually when sat in traffic or at lights. Thought maybe valve stem seals but no smoke on start up. No smoke when she is on the move or even under full throttle. Could it be turbo seals? If anyone could help that would be great! michael
Turbo oil seals, going BPU has reduced the backpressure in the exhuast and this helps to highlight the problem more.
Ric
but if it was turbo seals surely it would smoke under load or full boost
Golddigga
Hi mate, When the car is running and you blip the throttle does it smoke? It sounds a bit like a problem my mate had which I am afraid was the turbo seals. I also think that when you go BPU there can be a change in pressure on the turbo seals which can cause them to go. BTW I am not very technical and this is all from my previous readings/dealings on the forum so good to get some advice from someone more mechanical. Does this sound like a good time to go Hybrids then?

Chris Wilson
If i remove the intake pipes should i see some oil present? Yes, that's quite normal. To cover most bases do the valve stem seals, too.
Richie 400TT
Would you recommend new turbo seals or replacement turbos? any idea of a cost for Hybids?
Golddigga
I believe hybrids are around the £1k mark.
Steve
I beleive Envy hybrids were around £1300 to buy. Would then just need fitting. Best to ask Gaz Walker to confirm this.
Chris Wilson
Would you recommend new turbo seals or replacement turbos? any idea of a cost for Hybids? With no shadow of a doubt, fully rebuilt turbos from a turbo specialist of repute (Turbo Dynamics, Turbo Technics or Owen Developments are all people i have used with success). I don't like hybrids, and only reluctantly get involved in them.
