Guest andychase
Mornin all, I trying to take the last piece of my dash off to spray but the alarm has flumoxed me. There's only two ways I can see in getting the last bit off - 1. Remove the cover to the steering column and hope that it reveals a connector, or, 2. Snip the wires, spray the dash, then spice it back together and hope that everything still works ok. Any help or advice please? Oh & it's a Selca alarm - if that helps. Thankyoop! merckx
I'm not sure that I understand what you're talking about. Is there an LED fitted to the dash and the wires are preventing the dash panel from being removed?
Guest andychase
Yup, spot on. Sorry, I'm sh1te at explaining things!!!!
Matt Harwood
A lot of LED's are mounted in bezzles. Try pushing the LED forward, to expose the bezzle, then you may be able to remove it, and pull the LED back through the hole in the dash... Guest andychase
Just had another look at it and the LED is attached to a small green board (like a circuit board), there are 3 wires leading from that (which are soldered to the board). The 3 wires go through the bezzle (which is bigger than the hole) and then through the hole in the dash. I tried to attach a picture but it won't let me for some reason (not having much luck today!). Do you reckon it's safe to just snip the wires and then splice them back together again?
Matt Harwood
If you cut them individually, yes. Messy, but yes. Are you sure you can't push the bezzle forwards?
Guest andychase
I think messy it will have to be. Nah, deffo can't push the bezzle through. If only I could download that pic.... Cheers for the reply's Matt, I shall get on to that tomorrow - it's gonna look sweet when it's finished! I promise!
MarkR
Maybe you should cut the wires in a convenient place and add some bullet connectors so that in future you can unclip them, and possibly extend the wires a bit to make it easier to get halfway off before disconnecting?
