New time for me Mark as per TOTB 6 results thread:

11.90 @ 113MPH

Also had a terminal of 121MPH on another run and a bunch of 120MPH's. Is this a stock turbo record?

Ran a bunch of 1.9 sec 60fts on my BFG DR's - couldn't hook them up any better than that on the airfield surface. Will try some Mickey T's next as I always seem to end up on this kinda surface.

Still running stock j-spec turbos, stock unopened engine with stock cams, stock fuel system. Was running 1.1 bar boost on race fuel with optimised ignition timing and fuelling via my self mapped MAP2 ECU. Other mods include BL tranny, PI 4K RPM hi stall TC, TRD 2-Way LSD. BPU with GReddy 3-Row FMIC other than that.

More to come with a better surface / tyre combo :)

Cheers,

Brian.

Maybe over here, the guys in the states were hitting 125 odd mph last time I checked on stock Turbos.

lol Doug, so true when looking at some of their vids.

I did mean stock J-spec / ceramic turbo record (weird to say it but world record?). Probably doesn't mean much to anyone but I see it as a nice achievement after the hours of mapping to achieve these terminals - I can't just whack the boost up to 1.5bar ++ like the Americans do, my times and terminals were achieved at 1.1 bar still in sequential mode and I'm proud of that :)

Anyone wanna donate a set of UK twins / associated bumf necessary to fit them to a J Spec and I'll see what I can get out of them? It would be more than 125MPH IMO though :eyebrows:

Ack it's all neither here nor there - bring on the pod I say! Anyone know the next date there where the surface will be prepped?

Cheers,

Brian.

For any non believers - the proof is in the pudding as they say. See attached for MAP2 datalog screenshot showing my boost level (J Spec with restrictor ring keeping boost in check).

The vertical white line is my position in the log and the green line is boost - it shows the figure in the corresponding box at the bottom.

Cheers,

Thanks for the link Adi - looks like the Pod event to be at (outside Supra Pod!). Should be able to make that :) USSC at Crail the Sunday after. An action packed few weeks but now's the time to use the car!

hi

would take crail with a pinch of salt it looks a downhill track.best track has to be santapod or county raceway looks a pro set up there.keith cowie goes there too.

would like to go to try get record back with a th400 with transbrake and a bit of nos and stripped weight.my car only going to be a fun car off road as i buying a house so have to get money where its more needed.

could have sold bits on but if i do will not get back into it again.good to see supras getting a lot better.do you think the bl box has made a big difference.is it a hard fast shifting box.u think its worth the cost to upgrade.you sound like you got a strong car.makes me want to get mine sorted looks sad in garden

updated your time well done

Thanks Mark :)

Would be good to see you going for it again with a TH400, don't know how that will affect your times though as it's rumoured to be a bit of a drag on power, terminals will show whether it actually is or not!

The BL box.... well it kinda cancels itself out TBH. The main reason I got it was my standard box was knackered and I wanted to futureproof with eventual power goals in mind - it 'feels' like it'll handle the power of a reasonably sized single. The big downside for me is I can't shift it manually - when I broke the first BL box I got, BL kindly replaced it under warranty but blamed my occassional manual shifting for the failure. I found I saved a good 2 or 3 tenths shifting manually at the strip... so in some respects I wish I was still running a standard Toyota box.

Crail is a very hard strip to get decent times on - absolutely crap surface (almost like launching on the surface of the moon) and uphill at the start, hence some people claiming it looks downhill at the end. Terminal speeds show that isn't the case really.

Cheers,

Brian.

p.s. Can I have a little t at the start of my name on the list please? :)
