Homer
Thought I'd got all the problems fixed with my car but something new showed up today: Under hard acceleration (usually around 5k-5.5k rpm in 5th or slightly less rpm in 6th) the car seems to hesitate for a split second. The car will be accelerating as normal, then there is an abrupt loss of power which returns to full power after about half a second. There are no banging or popping noises, just a brief but completely loss of engine power. The car runs fine otherwise, has some blue some at start-up but that’s 'normal'. The only thing that seems to have changed lately is a rise in boost, before this week I'd never seen more than 1.05 bar but the recall is showing 1.35 bar now. Any ideas what is causing this cut in power? Cheers
Steve
I would say the raise in boost is possibly due to the colder weather. Thats all i know!!!
Suprash
The raise in boost is deffo due to the cold weather, your engine will love it.......
Steve Cargill
Originally posted by Homer Any ideas what is causing this cut in power? Cheers It sounds definatly like fuel cut. It's a protection mechanism to help stop the engine being killed. Stock cut is at just under 1 bar so you have got a device to raise the limit. geoffvalenti
Cold weather is great until the frost appears on the road. Its an automatic boost hike, and can be enjoyed freely by all

SkyJawa
If you've hit 1.35 bar then thats above the limit set on the TRL FCD, which IIRC just raises the stock cut to 18.5PSi or there abouts rather than get rid completely...... 1.35 bar = 19.38PSi

While the recall is showing 1.35 bar, the power cut seemed to actually happen at a slightly lower figure - around 1.2 bar. Dragonball
Too high boost there m8 IMHO - keep it below 1.2 or say goodbye turbos! (as I learnt from bitter experience) Also - sound like plugs more than cut??
