Pixelfill
Why does it take some insurance companies the best part of 2 days to get back to you with a quote? Left a message on a website yesterday for them to get back to me ASAP. I'd heard nothing by lunch today so I rang them, had to re-explain everything that they would have had access to from the website. They then went away to get in touch with their underwriters, and I've still not heard anything back from them* ! Some other companies seem so on the ball, but as with everything it pays to get several quotes to keep them honest, and to ensure you are getting the best deal. Which leads me to my next rant: Trying to get insurance on the Fiesta and rang around for myself and 3 named drivers (parents and missus). Standard car, no convictions for any driver, driveway parking, one windscreen claim from my dad 3 years ago (which has been declared) and the quotes range from £360 (£150 excess) - £915 (£500 excess) for Fully Comp cover. How can they be so wildly different If anyone's interested the expensive quote is from The cheapest car insurance provider 2004-2006** Mike * Not Sky ** based on independent telephone research by Consumer Intelligence from Jan 2004 - Jun 2006
Matt H
why do you bother ringing around when one of the best possible websites exists by the name of confused.com. absolute gem, wouldnt have been able to insure my supra without that site
Guigsy
confused was a joke when it came to insuring mine
Pixelfill
confused was fun when I originally tried it for the Supra, it returned 1 quote @ £1500 and when chased up they didn't do imports ! Try it again Matt, now you are declaring your mods !!! I did run the Fiesta through Confused, to be honest, but even the quotes it gathered for me were wrong when you go to check them, in actual fact one was reduced by about 150 quid when I corrected it. plus the fact it misses half the big players, RAC, Directline, to name but 2 Mike

Sheefa
I work for an insurer mate. We're built to be ethically incorrect and invest your hard earned cash into various piggybanks so we can make a good bit of interest on it. Don't have a heart attack just yet. Wait until Q4 this year when car insurance premiums will rise a good 10-12% after the significant claims frollowing the flood crisis. We've been hit big, customers will be hit even more so! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/5300930.stm

Sheefa
It's a joke isn't it Mike. In all fairness we as an insurer don't earn much, and we've made a loss on most cases this year. It's just a farce though having to pay out something that goes up year on year!
