Supra's Really Are Getting Cheap!!!

Good bit of research there, all have there own issues i guess, TVR factory issues obvious eventual knock-on effect, BMW keep chucking out larger numbers and newer and facelift models further removing the prestige and value from older models. Lotus expect would do ok, limited numbers etc except design is pretty old now and isn't without its expensive and known common weakpoints.

It does have a lot the do with the old "supply and demand".....

Even though the Supras are getting on, I still feel they should really be doing a lot better than they are. They're are not many manufacturer models that haven't been replaced by either newer versions or similar model to "cover" that sector of the market in recent years. Ok the Supra ran production in Japan for quite a few years but has not yet been replaced.

Even Porsche are trying to put the reigns on the number of cars being sold in a bid to keep used vehicle prices higher which is a bit catch 22 cos they're also focused on selling more cars. I guess that's why model diversity is commonplace in many manufacterers to sell more products without overstretching the demand.

Interesting to see 996 model 911's prices falling below that of a lot of 993's. With so many more 996's around, (which in some peoples opinion) have questionable build quality and long term reliability in comparison and a pureist selling point of the 993's being the last of the "air cooled" they've levelled off at the same sort of prices for the last few years even with the newer models that come out.

The BMW's residuals take a hammering every time they bring out a new model, it wasn't that long ago that you had to pay almost twenty grand for an E36 Evo, rising to nearly thirty grand for the last off the line. The E46 M3 has taken a pasting too in the last 12 months with the E92 being released, a friend picked one up for £16k, it wasn't even a shitter. Give it 2 years and SMG'd cars will be worth five figures.

The Chimaera is being suppressed because of the Tuscan & Tamora hemorrhaging money, both are available for £14k, people then think "why would I spend £14k on a Chim when I can get a T-car for the same money". The T-cars are being devalued because of lost confidence in their engines, the factory situation, and parts like clutches and windscreens are an utter bastard to find.

IMO it's a total mystery why the Espirt is loosing value, even the post 98 V8's are under £20k, 2 years ago they were £30-40k.

The Supra has a major image problem- not once in this thread is it even suggested yet it meets the OP's criterea, even if it is suggested it'll be dismissed quickly.

There are simply too many Barry'd cars to keep the kudos, it's got the wrong badge, it's been largly ignored by the mainstream motoring press, it was on TG once in 1993, and 5th Gear for all of five seconds (we were interviewed by Tiff while sat in ours and we didn't get further than the cutting room floor) and not once in EVO as a feature car.

Well an importer gave me a price on getting a Aero imported.

These he claims are on the road prices.

From

N/A Auto £3000

N/A Manuel £4000

TT £8000

Ive emailed back asking all the details and such, but if prices are like that in japan then the prices here will fall. Maybe someone in the know can shed some light

which importer is selling an na auto aero for 3k registered ??

please pass details to me as they are cheaper than japan and uk.

de-reg,freight,duty,tax,vat,customs, uk conversions,uk service,uk reg is at least 2k-2000 on a lower value car..

that leaves them 1k for his car purchase in jp and also his profit.

there is NO CHANCE you will find a straight aero na for 1k in jp which is roughly 200,000 japan yen.

i think he might be giving you rough prices for rough cars..

only one i can agree that is possible on the list is the tt price you got qouted, but you better of buying a tt in uk for 8k than in jp as you will get better value.. as an 8k tt on road from japan will be but far from perfect..
