Matt B
Hi All, As some of you may already be aware I am running a single T61 on my car. Well today I went to have it setup on the Rolling Road again as it's been playing up of late. Anyway I am using a S-AFC2 and 650cc injectors at the mo and single Walbro pump. When it was put on the dyno the fueling was adjusted and changed a little and the figures produce were quite good - 492bhp at the hubs and 478 ft/lb. No detectable knock at this point and I was a happy chappy. Then the bad news, when we took it for a road test the S-AFC knock sensor was registering very high readings at + boost. Now I know the sensor on the S-AFC may not be that reliable but the readings were very high and when we listened to the engine through earphones knocking could be heard at high RPM. So added more fuel across the range and it made no difference, also changed the plugs from IK22 to IK27. Still has not solved it. So my only other thing to adjust is the timing. The S-AFC however does not allow for this. My question to you all is: Do I ditch the S-AFC and go for an e-manage or the like. Also those of you who are also running singles could you tell me which plugs your are using and if you have your timing retarded? Thanks all and sorry for the epic... Matt Harwood
Hi Matt, I tried phoning you a little while back to see how things were going, but I got a dead line Anyway, I'm running normal NGK 7 plugs in my car. I've lost faith in the Iridiums recently as they don't seem to stand up well to any kind of det, so go easy on the throttle on your car until the problems sorted. Your two 'cheaper' options to adjust your timing would probably be an Apexi ITC, which would save you having to get your centre console remoulded, or as you say, the E-manage. Matt B
Thanks Matt, will probably go the emanage route and sell the Apexi units but I'm not 100% yet. Did you have the timing retarded on yours? I'll give you a shout tomorrow mate if that's alright. Cheers:)
Matt Harwood
No I didn't, but then I've got some really moody ECU in my car that almost has a mind of it's own! Yeah, feel free to call
Guest Terry S
I dont think with 650's and a T61 you would need to pull timing. Dodgy fuel?Knacked knock sensor? I assume your were rich enough on the AFR's?? BTW, VERY nice numbers on a T61.
Guest Terry S
forget that, I assume it was a hub dyno figure....

dude
The knock sensors should not be used on a SAFC 2 !!! Dude:flame Dev
dude
Im sure Paul told me that Thor pulled a load of fuel out of the SAFC , thats strange because Guy at CPL said he couldnt get enough fuel in to keep mapping !!!!!!, if its running lean that could cause DET !!!! Wez
Sounds like you need a wideband gauge on there to see whats happening, and let the stock ECU knock control work on its own uninterupted.
