Chris and Alana
Hi guy's, I remember reading something about cable ties in petrol a little while ago but cant remember if they are ok or not? The reason I ask is because when I fitted my walbro about 6months ago I used plastic cable ties to hold the fuel pump in place and the last thing I want is for them to break and have a free fuel pump plodding about my fuel tank pulling on the electrical connections
Guest Chumpalot
I thought cable ties dissolved in petrol?

Jake
Some are fine, some aren't. The ones that aren't tend to dissolve pretty quickly. If in doubt whip the hanger out and have a butcher's. It'll only take you five minutes if you've done it before.
Chris and Alana
mmmm, not sounding good looks like I'll have too get my hands dirty again. I hope it's ok. What do you guy's recommend for securing the pump then? Where can I get 'petrol proof' cable ties from?
RobSheffield
Whats with the cable tie fascination? Why not fit a large jubilee clip around them if you really feel you must...
Chris Wilson
What's wrong with the way Toyota secured it?
zap
Stainless steel cable ties, impervious to most things.

hodge
Get your hands in the tank Chris you know you want to. Make sure you scratch the back of the car when you do it. Then you can convince Alana you really need that spray job you were talking to me about the other week in the rain LOL.
Chris and Alana
lol, Ive just tried to get my hands in the tank and cant undo the god dam black screwy bit even after abit of my finger going missing I must have put it in too hard the last time. From chris wilson's comment I take it you dont need anything holding a walbro in place then. If so I'll pack up
Chris Wilson
The stock cradle with the rubber foot mount works fine, i have never used tie wraps to secure the pump, only the wiring loom. Nylon tie wraps won't melt.
