looking for new music recomendations - metal

Metallica stopped being a metal band after the black album. And Justice was the best thing they did, then Lars just lost it; his drumming on S&M was awful and I won't even mention St Anger.

As for real metal bands, I'll add to the list (in no particular genre order):

Lamb of God

Pantera

Motley Crue

Dream Theater

Helloween (early stuff was better)

Overkill

Tankard

Children Of Bodom

Trivium

Anthrax

M.O.D

Exodus

Alice Cooper

Suicidal Tendencies

Napalm Death

Bolt Thrower

Carcass

Exhorder

Vio-Lence

Testament

Love/Hate

W.A.S.P

Xentrix

Warlock

Voivod

Celtic Frost

Cathedral

Annihilator

Anvil

Bad Religion

Candlemass

Dimmu Borgir

Death

Gang Green

Grip Inc

Mastadon

Morbid Angel

Sacred Reich

Saxon

Scorpions

Judas Priest

Soundgarden

Any more...?

Based on the above have you considered Michael Bolton and Curtis Stigers?

:rlol: Coffee... keyboard... :D

You got the new KoRn CD yet Michael? Downloaded it last night but I've only heard Evolution so far. Seems to have gotten some fairly good reviews, See you on the other side was not one of their best IMO but it grew on me. Downloaded Chopped, Screwed, Live and Unglued too but again not had time to listen to it. Other than that I've not really had anything new since I gave you those DVD's!

, your selection above doesn't really scream "metal", it's a bit lighter, more generic rock.

.

Read it again brainiac, at no point did I say Metallica are a rock band,

certainly is what it reads.. one mans metal is another mans cheeky girls. :) but anyways, not here to make enemys, lots of recomendations made by all, gona take me a while to sift through them i think..

I'm surprised it's not come up already, but if you're looking for something a bit heavier than Metallica are now then have a look at Rammstein.

German blokes singing Heavy Metal takes a little getting used to, but the instrumentals and overall sound is excellent. ;)

I'm primarily in Thrash, Industrial and Heavy Metal. Most of the bands I listen to are mentioned but here are some the guys have missed Killswitch Engage, Black Label Society (Zakk Wylde's band), Down (Phil Anselmo's current band, ex-Pantera), Caliban, Damageplan (Dimebag's last band), Devil Driver (Ex-Coal Chamber Vocalist), God Forbid, Hellyeah (Dimebag's brothers current band), Deftones, Ministry, Sevendust, Static-X, Revolting Cocks, Scum of the Earth and my current top of the pile favourite, Lamb Of God.

34 mate. I got brought up on rock (Dio, Maiden, Whitesnake, Saxon, Scorpions) then followed the whole speed metal thing when Anthrax, Metallica & Slayer arrived, then followed through the whole Grindcore/Death Metal scene. My major influences are still the old thrash bands like Exodus, Overkill, Testament and such but I mellowed when I started smoking pot got a bit older and now listen to allsorts from delta blues, rock, some jazz and the occasional bit of trance type stuff like Eat Static & Ozric Tentacles. I like to chill out to Pink Floyd, Gong, Hawkwind & Jethro Tull. For driving though, you can't beat the cheesyness of cock-rock - Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Love/Hate, Twisted Sister & Cinderella regularly make my playlists. Rob Zombie works well for spirited drives.
