Guest Nicholas
Ok so my gunmetal supra went to it's new owner last week and I picked up my new black 1996 twin turbo at the weekend, I had the peasure of driving her back to London in the pouring rain with crappy tyre's and being unable to turn the stock traction control off!!!! Scary stuff! thinking about it maybe I should have pulled the trac fuse and put uip with the flashing light on the dash I've never driven a tt since I bought my old supra with a t04r single kit already installed but was quite surprised at both the fuel consumption and how the twin setup rockets along, it was also very nice to have no rattling clutch although that will change shortly For those of you that don't have good tyre's please please please invest in some before we hit winter! and remember to turn that traction control system off before you even think about moving!! Matt H
On the contrary, i remember a while ago thinking that if it wasnt for the stock traction control i would have ended up in a parked car when i was driving in the wet. think i posted up about it

ivan
I always drive with the tc ON in the wet. Mind you, I heard the facelift ttc is better than the old one.
grahamc
honestly I dont get... I picked up my car (450 - 480bhp), first time in a rear wheel drive with anywhere near this much power, it was pissing down, and I ended up having to drive 150 miles. No issues, except for me having a dumbass minute... Foot flat in 2nd gear. Driving sensibly in th wet has caused me no issues, no scary moments.... Same here, i do not get all this scary stuff about Supra spinning in wet. Controlling your car will come with experience I belive, also some kind of common sense. Guest Nicholas
Maybe it's just me then guys but I find the stock TC a right pita I also think people are not reading my original post, it's not the fact that it spins up it's how the stock tc works if you do loose it the tc cuts your power to what feels like 40% very dangerous if you go sideways in the wet! You're not alone, I'm with you all the way. I find it horribly intrusive and a dangerous system for drivers *who know how to control a high power RWD car*. If you find the stock TC helps, then you need driving lessons! Edited to add that RLTC is another matter alltogether...

Bobbeh
I have the stock TC on usually and it does help sometimes in the wet, its not great though. I dont think I need driving lessons either Sounds to me like some of you are way too heavy on the gas in the wet as mine kicks in pretty quickly when the slightest tyre slip is detected.. although I do have the UK spec TRC. RobSheffield
I get ya Nick, its just that i couldnt believe you would spin the wheels, Ash told me you drive like a pansy I disabled mine soon after my first drive in the wet, and will now be running RLTC you drive an n/a one so you wouldn't get it
Konrad
you drive an n/a one so you wouldn't get it Doesn't matter, I can drive anything without unexpected spinning once i have a chance to get used to a car. Some people just need more time to get used to it, some will be hopeless even after ages of owning car and driving it every day. But then - I'm driving for a living, so prolly this makes some difference.

Well, you know what I mean. You wouldn't rely on it would you Nor want in on while pulling out of junctions I think the UK system is different to the jspec, it certainly seems that the VVTI or facelift cars have a different one. RedM
I'd just like to say that you can avoid scary wetness based situations by not driving like an idiot. oh....and good tyres, RLTC and a non-digital right foot are also of use.
Ewen
I find that not pulling out of junctions right in front of lorries helps too.
