Godmutha
How long do they live? They live for approximately a year to 14 months.
kieren1234
The expected life span of a praying mantis depends on the species, but tmaximum is about a year for the entire life cycle. However, most will only live as adults for about 6 months (less for some species of praying mantis).
Godmutha
Ours have always lived between 12 and 14 months. They are African Mantids, and are a hardy species.

Supragal
It wasn't that odd... you can't ask it of him, he's not being sold for £5 with the guarantee he will die within a year or
kieren1234
Heres my little beasts new home, checked on the net and it says you can use soil instead of sand but will get some sand when i get chance anyway as its cleaner, Just cut a but of tree up on the circular saw and put a couple of false leaves and flowers in. Cant wait untill he arrives !!!!! The tank cost me £5.99, and i just printed off a large picture of leaves and a mantis and stuck it on the back, looks rather good IMO. kieren1234
I will have to see how the two cats react to him, they will probably eat it so best not let them near it me thinks.

I wanted to know what his was in order to understand my own As for the Mantis in question - you've got his pretty much wrapped up in the above quote. AndrewOW
No-one has a purpose in life, I think he meant "what does it do?" kinda thing. I think it prays a lot. Maybe it was something nasty in a previous life, and is being punished by being sold off to you lot
