Guest Terry S
It wasnt mate. Agreed on the outputs. There are also other things like processors and what they are doing, I.E 1 for Fuel, 1 for timing, fuel/timing shared, so many configurations. I would like the other performance tuners to give their experiences as it always seem to be me that chips in.
Robbie
I'm not sure if this is the norm but most folk here seriously considering ecu upgrades have had, or are getting, work done to mod their engines as well. In my case I certainly dont have the knowledge or time to do all the work to the engine myself so I took it to an experienced workshop to get my goodies put on. Over time you naturally set up some kind of relationship with the garage and they in turn get to know what kind of results your after. They will have certain areas of expertise, in my case 'f-con pro units. They know me and my car, I know and trust them, It stands to reason that I would use the ECU they have experience with to ensure the best results. . .I hope i'm not misguided in my presumption
CJ
Robbie, I would be very intersted to hear of how it turns out - privately if you wish. I agree with Ian too. I would much prefer some sort of table listing the relative merits of each unit.

CJ
I have another question regading the AEM. Does it work OK with the VVTi engine? A couple of guys have questioned whether it does and I havent got a clue!
Alex
The AEM could control the VVTi, but there is no Plug and Play version. It can only be wired in via a custom loom...and even then I think it can only be a piggyback. Sound Performance have done it.

CJ
Reviving a slighly old thread (but no where near as old as some others recently revived ), and staying slightly on topic, what would peoples opinions be of a deal to have a Motec 800 supplied (with all the necessary sensors), fitted and mapped for £3000? Alex
As a piggyback or standalone? As it can be both leaving the stock ECU to control things like the Aircon etc...
CJ
As a piggyback or standalone? As it can be both leaving the stock ECU to control things like the Aircon etc... As you say, it can be used in either fashion, so what is your opinion if it is used in either or? At 3k, is it VFM?
Alex
Yes it is decent VFM...as you're then not tied down to not being able to tinker yourself as you can have/download the software to play later. But you're a fit it and forget it man....I'd need to know which features are unlocked on the unit to really decide. As there are other features like Traction Control and stuff like that can be unlocked.
Guest Terry S
I would still put the Autronic SM4 in for £3000 mapped, because that includes the CDi ignition.....
CJ
I'd really need to sit with the tuner to see what can ber unlocked and then decide which of these, if any, I would want to unlock. As you know (or may not) I have the RLTC and the BL upgraded g/box. I suppose the RLTC would keep that going but would have to decide on whether to let the oem auto ecu control the box or have the Motec do it.
