fastisnice
I got an HKS F-CON S and since im going for big bhp as well as resetting the rev limiter, I found one(HKS V PRO) at a v.good price and i got someone very good at HKS who can map it for me...How does it compare with other ECUs (like AEM/Autronic) do they have similar functions? Syed Shah
There is a thread on SF in the parts review section on the V-Pro, good read.

Ian C
I've heard good reports about it as long as you don't mind it being a "sealed unit" ie only dealers can map it. -Ian
CJ
I have been looking into this too and am very impressed. I have spoken to a couple of well known tuners in the USA and they have been very enthusiastic about the product. The only downside I can see is that it can only be mapped by approved HKS dealers (of which ther are only 4 in the UK) and cannot be altered by the owners. Now, I called that a downside but for someone like me who is not a tinkler and would prefer a "map it and leave it" approach, it seems ideal. Guest Terry S
I would not let anyone here touch it on the Supra. They do not have the expert knowledge of our cars IMHO.
Gamer
TDI seems to have success with it. I belive Abby Motorsport also does quite well with it. (Although the Abby deals mainy with Skylines, TDI have done plenty of Supra's)
Guest Terry S
and your point is? I am serious here. I have been into nearly ever ECU for the Supra in great depth. The V Pro is a serious piece of kit. Anyone one can tune it so it is OK, it is very clever and will help the tuner out. VERY few can tune it well. Just my honest opinion. Gamer
Fair enough, I guess I did not have a point. But you know what they say about opinions....... (honest or otherwise)
Guest Terry S
Yep, they are often formed the hard ( read expensive) way ;)
CJ
I think the problem that Terry has highlighted is the same for most of the aftermarket ECU's, that being that there is very little experience here in the UK of tuning any of them. The four in the UK that are approved to tune the F-con pro are Abbey motorsport, GT-Art, Owen Developments and TDI. The first two are predominantly Skyline tuners, the second Evo and Scooby and I know little of the third. As a general question (mainly aimed at Terry), would you consider their experience with Skylines to be of no use to us? I dont mean that disresptfully to any of the tuning companies but more an honest observation of the differences in tuning one marque over another even when using the same software. Nic
The mechanics here that do the HKS F-Con V tuning all get trained by HKS Japan expert tuners. Might be worth asking what training the UK guys have had, if any.

Guest Terry S
Right, there is only one English speaking person in the World I would let tune a V-Pro on my supra and he is a long way away.
CJ
Right, there is only one English speaking person in the World I would let tune a V-Pro on my supra and he is a long way away. Just one? After reading the threads on Supraforums there seem to be several well respected guys who have experience with the F-con pro. Unless you dont class the Americans as English speaking
