its an auxilliary drive belt that is for deffers not made by toyota themselves. The OEM one will not be made in any toyota factory. You don't mind using philips bulbs, garrets turbo's, blitz intercoolers so what difference is there to using an auxilliary belt? If you are that bothered buy two-if one snaps oh dear you have to fit another. If we were talking cam belts then yes I would understand to a degree. But I am betting that there are a lot of supra's about with non-OEM cambelts in them as well.

Mine squeaks too. Dunno if you mean a loud squeak that goes after a few revs, or a continuous squeal for a few minutes as it warms up?

IIRC from my thread on the same subject a lot of supras get it (the low volume one) and it's nothing to worry about.

Push down on the belt at the top where it runs alongside the engine block, if the wheel half way down (the only one with the belt wrapped around the inside [if that makes sense]) moves inwards then it is OK, also check that the mark on this wheel matches up with the 3 dashes on the block next to it (you may have to clean a bit of dirt off to see the marks.

If these two points are OK you're cool to keep the belt and put up with the noise - otherwise change it.

The Gates belt will be as good if not better than the OEM one , you can also buy a special belt dressing to stop squeling etc , the bearings also wear in the tensiner pulley , so much so that i allways keep 1 or 2 in stock at all times , also the cam belt tensioner pulleys are also getting worn out , see it more and more now .
