RobSheffield
Anyone else noticed a drastic increase in the number of roadworks, both locally and nationally? Sheffield is all but fully closed every night.
ivan
But of course - it's the school holidays and the roads are crowded. When else would they do it?
Branners
they always do them in the summer holidays as theres only half the traffic on the road. Doesnt seem to have helped the M1 roadworks at J9, it tails back onto the m25 most days and when they closed the M40 last week so they could sniff the tarmac for clues it really messed the M1 up badly. DaveK
Overnight. Like the Japanese. Couldn't possibly happen - this is Britain. I'm not convinced that's a solution - not all roadworks can be completed in one night. Not to mention the fact that I've seen roadworks during the daytime many times in Japan - in fact, I'd say every time I've been there. I'd say my tyres are of poor quality and need upgrading too, but that would sound like an excuse
Matt _Aero top_
I've noticed this too alot around sheffield rob , they've even shut the parkway down to one lane for repairs and that mess there making of corparation street is just making it worse than it was in the first place . i have to set off for work a whole 15-20 mins earlier when i'm working the afternoon shifts lately

I'm still on the old Kuhmo Ecsta Supras. Still undecided on what to go for, but I'm tempted by some Potenzas as I've been offered them reasonably cheaply. And on topic, there's 3 lots of roadworks gone up on my way to work this summer, and it's only about 7 miles each way.

creative
ahhh so you could be the one i see pootling round sheffield? Have to say ALL the roads in sheffield are shite! Im always having my balljoints done and now both RTAB's have gone together! I actually take long routes now just to avoid certain roads as its really starting to ruin the car! (not that im bothered as im off soon!)

SupraAyf
Anyone else noticed a drastic increase in the number of roadworks, both locally. Definitely Rob, our area seems to be suffering (benefiting really) from short 24-hour road works. We don't seem to know when the next one is going to pop up so you take your chances;)
Havard
Not me sir Unless you see a brewery van Rob, I see what you mean about the roadworks!! I had a meeting in Sheffield city centre this afternoon and after getting held up for 20 minutes on the A57 towards Glossop I became increasingly frustrated by the number of roads closed in the city centre itself. The satnav kept sending me round and round.... I got to my meeting 1 hour late and felt like a crunt!! H.
