Really are very practical cars for every day use, boots massive and plenty of legroom in the back, really enjoyed my WRX and rate them highly.

MPG is pretty grim though, I had a 94 WRX and daily driving saw about 23mpg, long run on motorway could hit 30mpg.

Other thing is the hassle factor, be prepared to have every saxo and corsa in the land trying it on, people will also stop letting you out of junctions ;)

whilst I remember;

Look out for knackered drop links and ARBs

Leaking rocker covers

Leaking power steering reservoir

All are easy enough fixes and the bottom end horror stories, wouldn't worry about it unless the cars highly modified or no service history.

i think my mussis would go mad if i offered her a NA sorry, put it this way she used to have a 1.4 corsa phoned up to look at a 1.6 at carland bloke said yep all here just come have a look, turned up and it was a 1.4 he said oh thats okay your a girl you will not notice- hhmmmm she said a few words to the man liek the 1.4 are plile of poo etc

she loved my starlet turbo i harldy saw it

not too worried about mpg to be honest she runs around in a st24 2.5 v6 mondeo at the mo which we are keeping

she dopes not do too many mile too work about 10 i think there and 10 back

she is already look at turbo upgrade etc

she loves here car

dream is a evo 6 but will work her way up to that cannot go goving her what she wants straight away

I bought a WRX for my missus when we passed on our old Rover Coupe. It really is an awesome car, and I can only echo what everyone else has already said... Practical, loads of space, lots of fun to drive (and very easy to drive and manoeuvre - a plus for my missus!), dependable (if not messed with) and rapid.

I agree with the downsides too... Fuel economy is bad, chavs hang around them (whereas Supras attract a better breed of admirer) and either drool over them or hurl bottles at them (I've experienced both), and it's true... Nobody let's you out at junctions in a Scooby!!

yeah i must admit looking at it when buying it i was really a bit worried cos i though surley no car comes from the factory that fast

i tried a wrx in standard but the difference betweent that and the sti ra (race alterared version) was massive we had to have the RA

all it has is exhaust, filter wheels bodykit alloys boost gauge, so took my fear away from it being too much power over standard and silly mods, from what i can tell they are that fast the ra (sti) makes a big difference because they are sooo light

was worried about reliabilty but from what i here they are better acclerating and slowing down all the time and booting around than sitting on a motor way at 90

it really was one quick car i was immpressed comes with 3months warranty parts and labour,

from the advert

Manual 5 speed, 50,000 miles, White. The RA STi is now the most sought after spec. of older model Imprezas, as it has not only got the Sti built engine (higher rev limit, larger turbo, better internals than the normal WRX models) but this particular model also has a close ratio gearbox with adjustable centre differential. Water jets to the intercooler are also fitted as well as a rally style roof vent. There is less sound deadening and no electric windows, to keep weight down. Interior is full STi and includes Air conditioning. Gearbox is the best thing about it, with quick closely spaced ratios and very fast acceleration as a result. Adjustable centre diff allows 75% drive to the rear wheels, which dials out typical Impreza under steer. This one has a front bumper, side skirts, full exhaust system, induction kit, HKS SQV dump valve, competition clutch, 17¿ wheels with good tyres, plus A pillar mounted gauges.... A superb example of a future classic STi

i didi not know it was on auto trader will i got home after viewing it i went to look at teh standard wrx they had ended up spending 2k more and getting a played with RA

hi, my last car was a scooby, it was a classic shape too but the facelift (slightly different dash and front bumper), loved it as a car, would definately consider having another. as for scooby clinic i can only go on my own experiences. i went up there to get an stainless exhaust but while i was waiting for someone to sort it out one of the lads who was working there got a phone call an instead of the guy from the office passing him the cordless phone he threw it across the scooby he was working on, it bounced across the roof an slid down the rear windscreen an bounced off the boot . after seeing this i decided against the idea an told em to leave it. before this i had been told they were very good but i decided never to use them again. so if your do take your car in there be sure to check it over after as they seem abit rough with the cars.

heres a pic off my old scooby

Mine was a uk model 2.0 sport awd (couldnt afford the insurance on a turbo at the time i bought it), i was actually looking for a uk model turbo when i saw the supra for sale and decided id give that a go instead. only thing with buying a scooby is theres alot of crap out there and i was starting to get annoyed with people telling me on the phone that the car was mint and getting there to find it was a right shed. the import scoobys are slightly more powerful but a remap can sort that out. i spent quite abit of cash on mine, put 18's on it, lowered 35mm, p1 front splitter, sti rear spoiler, colour coded the side skirts and rear spats, exhaust, induction kit etc etc. never had any problems with it at all in 2 years. just have to be careful where you park em, i spoke to the guy i sold mine to a couple of weeks after selling him the car and he told me 2 lads tried to completely rob the front end off it an it was only cuz the alarm was going off he ran out side and the lads legged it leaving his front bumper half hanging off.
