tbourner
OK, before I go into doing this, having had so much pisstaking trouble with a bleedin' spark plug change!!! Can someone tell me what to expect from replacing the O2 sensor with a general one? I know it's a case of cutting the 4 wires and soldering in the new sensor. Should I expect all the wires to be the same colour? Will it break if I touch it? How does the manifold bracket go on? Most importantly where the hell is the sensor!!!!! Anyone got a pic handy? Ian C
No scaring people in Technical - be helpful Wire colours - probably different Don't drop the sensor but apart from that you are OK It's two 12mm nuts so an absolute piece of piss to do and get this - you can get at them without dismantling anything else The sensor is on the exhaust downpipe, driver's side of engine bay, follow the one sleeved cable heading in that direction -Ian
dude
And have a decent socket set cause the nuts will be tight to the last thread !!!! Dude:flame Dev
Guest Usmann A
Sorry guys, Im pretty sure the sensor, doesnt require any soldering, just follow the cable, itll be pinned down near the strut, with a harness connector? So, just unclip it, and clip a new one in. HTH,
Ian C
New off-the-shelf narrowband O2 sensors don't have the Toyota connector on the end Actually, the generic O2 sensors have a screw thread body whereas the Toyota ones are welded into a flange - I know Chris Wilson sells O2 sensors with the correct flange for the sensor to screw into, may be worth talking to him, I think his price is rather good too. That's if you haven't got one already -Ian
Guest Usmann A
I ordered one from the US, with a screw in flange, and harness on it already. Ill find out more.
