tbourner Posted August 7, 2007 Share Posted August 7, 2007 Just bought some dumbells to add a (small) bit of weight lifting to my morning stretch/warm up routine, but is it a good idea to do this kind of thing in the morning before any breakfast? I feel a lot better after doing stretching and a few situps and stuff, but not sure on lifting weights, feels like hard work, maybe because I'm new at it, or maybe because I need to eat!!! I know foods pretty important with weights, so I'm not going silly with them, just a few exercises, but still - eating a good idea? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I get up about half hour before her, go to the loo or whatever, then go and do some stretches and stuff. Do what your doing with stretches in the morning, best time to do them after being cramped up in abed all night. Do your normal day and get good food in you, then do some weights in the evening whne you dont have to rush, you'd only need to put 30 mins aside each night or every other night Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm supposed to be going to Tae Kwon Do tonight but my leg is hurting from pulling something at the weekend (couldn't stretch at all this morning), so I might give it a miss and do some home gym instead. I've been in hardcore training for the RAF over the last few months, been picking up sme really good run times for 1.5miles (under 9:45mins) and now I've damaged my right leg from 5-aside football on Sunday. grahamc Posted August 7, 2007 Share Posted August 7, 2007 Couple of different thoughts on the idea of training before food, in the morning. Some say its good (BodyforLife), some say its bad. Its up to you really, try it for a few weeks and see how you feel. BodyforLife said something along the lines of: you have been sleeping for 8 hours, with nothing to eat, whatever energy you use, should come from fat stores. I honestly can't wait from ending one session until the next.
