edd_t
Hey people... Anyone go canal boating? Have no idea if thats what I should be calling it. Have found this website: http://www.waterwaysholidays.com Which seems pretty good for finding the holidays. There are 6 of us that want to do a Friday to Monday type thing. We're not sure where to go! We want to experience a couple of locks at least. And would prefer to be in a narrow boat than a cruiser. But dont really want to travel too far to get there, we are in Essex. I'm guessing the Norfolk Broads would be a good bet, but do you get locks on the Broads? Cheers
rick001
I lived on a Narrow boat for 3 months - great fun but going anywhere is like following a snail - too effin slow mate, 5 days will get about 30 (road) miles round trip, great if you plan them all via pubs though Thats 30 miles via road, 80 miles on the cut,it is a total nightmare as it goes all round the place

kieren1234
I used to go canal boating with my Grandad and brother in the Thames. Was excellent, and i used to fish for Pike off the back of it and sell them to a restaurant situated on the thames.

VELOCITY
My girlfriends dad has just had his narrow boat built a few months ago and we stayed on it for a weekend, i was pleasantly surprised. i really enjoyed it, very relaxing and great scenery (spelling?). just drinking constantly and enjoying the slow paced life. ivan
Try these They do all sorts of boats but they also have narrow boats http://www.blakes.co.ukBlimey are they still going? We used to use them for our Broads holidays back in the 60's. Thames is much better than the Broads according to my Brother. He and Mum&Dad used to go every year.
