Just like a TV, it either displays a picture and makes sounds or it doesnt, so no, its not different. Seriosly thou the TRL (thor) one is more accurate, better build quality, will last longer (the amount of cheap ones that go bang is high) and more importantly is tried and tested many times over on here. Shelling out £40 for a cheapo one, spending the next 4 hours installing it only to find a year later it goes pop probably is not your idea of fun? I bought one off ebay for £40 when I didn't know any better and the speedo needle bounced around all over the place. Bought the TRL one and problem solved.
