Jake
decriminalised parking? Was it ever a criminal offence?
Matt H
yeah. when parking enforcement was in the hands of the police not the council parking illegally was a criminal offense. now its not as its in the hands of the council

Chris Wilson
I know it used to be endorsable
Class One
It's still an endorsable offence carrying the penalty of £60 + 3 points and only Police and Police employed Traffic wardens or specially endorsed Police Community Support Officers may issue a ticket for the offence. jamesmark
My father got done for parking/stopping a zigzag, he is a disabled driver and has poor mobility but it mattered not.
SupraStormRising
My father got done for parking/stopping a zigzag, he is a disabled driver and has poor mobility but it mattered not. That sucks man is it me or has the world gone mad? surely that's a valid reason....
Pot
So, endorsable, but not criminal?... (As in you don't get a criminal record for it, like Drink Driving?) EDIT : I'm thinking you're thinking along the lines of no-tax, which is not endorsable... (AFAIK)
MrRalphMan
To risk getting flamed, there is a Pedestrian crossing near our local shops, and when it's busy there is normally two or three cars parked on on side of the crossing. Now I would be happy to see these people endorsed/fined and then cattle prodded. Now I just hope that when someone gets mown down on this crossing due to the pedestrian/car driver not being able to see due to the cars, it's their mother or nan or son etc that get's it.. Harsh, but even when the car park is free early in the morning, people still think it's easier to park on the zig zags rather then 40 feet up the road.. jamesmark
That sucks man is it me or has the world gone mad? surely that's a valid reason.... It fell down to, he WAS parked illegally although he thought he wasn't so it was learning curve. Yeah world gone mad, he went to appeal and the officers sergent agreed with my dad that the officer should have used his judgement and that it was harsh what had happened but the fact is he was still illegally parked. It annoys me disabled parking as it is abused and there is sometimes not enough of parking for the disabled.
Chris Wilson
Road tax evasion isn't endorsable, but fraudulent use of a tax discs (say a fake one) is almost certain to get you a criminal record if you get prosecuted successfully. Offence against Custom and Excise and all that. Those lot can get VERY arsey...

Quite it seems there's always some t@at parked in them who isn't actually disabled all for the sake of not walking an extra 20yards

SupraStormRising
Think they should put hidden car crushers under the spaces. Non-disabled person parks gets out their car walks off. Comes back to a crushed lump of metal with a fixed penalty stuck to it

Jake
Nobody able to drive is that disabled that they need to park on a crossing's zig-zags and endanger innocent pedestrians. It's either laziness, ignorance or arrogance.
