RobSheffield
Looking to swap my runabout in the next few months, looking at the above 2 cars. How can i compare fuel consumption and original/optional equipment and such, is there a site that does that?
Havard
Hmm!! That's a good one Rob!! I would imagine there will be historical data on Auto Express but maybe not that far back. Will have a mooch and see what I can find.... Personally the BMW would do it for me!! H.

dr_blackman
I think the bmw will be more refined but its a lot bigger car so it depends what you want to be honest Both will do good on fuel!
dangerous brain
The golf is going to be nippier and more useable due to being a hatch back rather than a saloon. The Beemer will be the chunkier better feeling car. Mileage wise I reckon there will be nowt in it as you will boot the golf around a bit harder than the beemer as its a quicker car and you just cant help it. DaveK
You should probably factor in service costs as well. At work, one guy reckons the BMW he had was the cheapest car he's ever had to run. He had changed to a merc, but sold that last year and bought another BMW - new one this time.
RobSheffield
Any good Rob ??? http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/Review.aspx?model=78&page=7 http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/Review.aspx?model=1015&page=7 Great, thanks Ian I think the bmw will be more refined but its a lot bigger car so it depends what you want to be honest Both will do good on fuel! Im not sure which i want, this is the problem! I have a Pug 405 which is shoing its age now a little bit. i have just gone round and changed all the water hoses on it, and it has LOADS of miles left, but i fancy something with a little more pazzaz You should probably factor in service costs as well. At work, one guy reckons the BMW he had was the cheapest car he's ever had to run. He had changed to a merc, but sold that last year and bought another BMW - new one this time. I would do my own servicing Its really only comparative fuel and insurance costs. BMW is 2.5 TD versus Golfs 1.9 so i guess that might sway me
dangerous brain
Yeah but the 1.9 is a nippier car and you will use that acceleration so expect the same mileage from both lol
