When im im in either 1st,2nd,3rd or 4th... i can move the lever left to right with plenty of travel... I guess theres no cure to this apart from sticking the stock on e back on. Gamer Posted August 1, 2007 Share Posted August 1, 2007 Yes, unfortunately. I believe Homer runs one of these and had some issues with it that I think he rectified. Maybe he can chime in.... Homer Posted August 1, 2007 Share Posted August 1, 2007 Well remembered Joe The joint on these can wear very quickly, mine got so bad that it's actually damaged the selector shaft which means the gearbox has to come out to be repaired! He was under the impression that the B&M short shift give problems if installed incorrectly in the first place. I've had my secondhand B & M for three years now. No issues. Chris Wilson Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Replace all the rubber bushes in the A frame cradle for the gear lever, too, makes a big difference to the precision of the change. At the end of the day the thing still shifts gear like a WW2 truck though, it's a lousy gear shift quality, IMO, compared to some other boxes. JohnA Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 I've seen so much aggro with such 'short shift' kits that I'd steer well clear. Once I was stupid enough to pay my own good money for one. When I realised that the various breakages and loosenings were the fault of the *concept* I flogged it to another wannabe fast-dude.
