Scoboblio
I'm now officially fed up with waiting to sell my Supra. The insurance is due for renewal soon, and I'm in no position to pay for insurance on a modified group 19 car when I don't even drive it. I want something more sensible but I don't have the cash at the moment (because it's tied up in the car I don't drive ) I'm considering going to a used car dealership with the supra and about £500 in my pocket..... my question is: Will they even talk to me about buying a new car so close to the value of my old one? Seems a bit strange to be say "I'll give you this car and £500 for that newer car". On top of that, I'd probably want to trade in my daily driver too while I'm there. Am I taking the micky, or will someone like a big car supermarket actually want to make a deal with me?
jamesmark
I would say it is worth a try they can only say no. However I think you will get the crappest offer on the table as they will want to make at least a few K profit. I would rather sell it on here for that money than encourage them. IIRC it was CJ that said that trade ins get stupidly low offers around £3k for a stock/bpu TT in good condition.

That's not good news. I might be holding a few cards with my choice of car.... a nice boring Mondeo or similar family hatchback. I was thinking that most car supermarkets would be desperate to sell them since they just sit on the forecourt and depreciate anyway. The problem is, I can't sell it on here..... the only interest I get is people wasting my time by saying they'll come round to take a look, then not bothering (you know who you are!). Scoboblio
Car supermarkets will give you pennies for your car im afraid Pennies would be a start at least.... right now it's costing me money with the MOT, tax, insurance, and it's only been started once in the last month. turbonut
Are there not any import car specialists in your area that would buy it for closer to its worth? Would Jurgen be able to advise you, as he knows the business so well? Good luck with selling it mate, how come it wont shift though? Where are you selling it and maybe your asking too much? Not checked it out so apologies if I'm talking out of my bottom :D Lx

It's been on here for a couple of months for £6500, reduced it to £5800 yesterday so to be honest I may be able to whip up some interest now, but finding out the insurance expires soon has made me nervous to get rid of it. Also tried autotrader for 2 weeks, nothing except another time waster.
Missile
If only i had a few penny's. I would sell my NA and snap your car up mate. Not that that helps. Plus for some reason im also anti auto. Can't understand why its not gone. Looks mint.... Lovin the wheels.
RobSheffield
Cant you put it on layup insurance and SORN it?
Guest Chumpalot
I remember considering your car when I was in the market for one mate, a lovely example. I'd hold out if I were you, I know it's a pain but there'll be someone out there who wants it. Rather that that giving it to someone like Carland for 3.5k or whatever, that'd be a shame. If you're not using it, declare it SORN as Rob said and cancel your insurance come renewal time perhaps.
Scoboblio
Thanks guys. To be honest it's only just occured to me that insurance companies must offer some form of insurance for cars that are barely driven (doh!), so I'll check this out. I suppose it'll be much better to try that and wait a bit longer rather than rushing into things and giving away my P&J of the last 3 years. dangerous brain
Stick it on ebay with a healthy start price of £6k not a reserve, its quite cheap to do so and will reach the whole nation rather than just this club. I assume its on piston heads. Exchange and mart over auto trader every day of the week for me and try your local freeads as well. More ground you cover better chance you have. I've sold more cars via ebay interest than any other way though.

Sheefa
Yep, as DB said ebay is the way forward. Mine was up for sale for over 3 months too mate, Black J-spec TT. I advertised it on ebay and it had 34 watchers, starting price of £8300 with only a few hours to go. No bidders mind. Then someone saw it on ebay, came to take a look, was very pleased with the car and offered me £8750 to take it away I didn't say no, although I regret it now as I miss her like mad
Stonkin
last thing you want to do mate is trade it in, they will honestly rip your arm off something chronic! get it up for sale everywhere, here, autotrader, pistonheads, other forums, local paper, ebay.
